Talk:Tech/News/2013/33

I do hope you don't mind my commenting this up; I've taken over the Tech reports on en-wiki's Wikipedia Signpost, and I found I had to do a lot of research to understand a lot of the changes. Figure it's better to deal with such issues here, than to limit them to en-wiki alone.

And I hate to say it, but I found some major issues when trying to use Tech/News/2013/31. In particular, the bit saying you added support for three fonts. That sounds very uninteresting - unless you happen to know already - as I luckily did - that adding font support is the method used to add automatic support for languages that doesn't depend on the user having fonts installed. Then I had to figure out which languages they supported. One I got from gerrit, one I got by following gerrit back to bugzilla, and the third I had to google the font.

This is meant to be a simple report for non-technical people, from what I've been told, but without some context, a lot of this is very hard to understand.

Anyway, I did try to join the mailing list for Wikitech ambassadors to ask about this, but it didn't work for some reason, so... figured it better to bring it up here. Adam Cuerden (talk) 18:36, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

In regards to gallery, it is deployed to all non-wikipedia wiki. You can test it on commons if you want. I wrote an announcemnet including example on commons:COM:VP. There's also an example at help:Images. Bawolff (talk) 22:43, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Btw, if you don't know what some tech change thing means, ask on #mediawiki (or the dev in questions talk page, etc), and we'll be hopefully be able to clarify what's involved. Bawolff (talk) 22:48, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
