Header / translation

edit

It's better to use {{subst:Steward elections or asking a Translation admin to make a copy 2017 Steward elections with existing translations. --Plagiat (talk) 19:10, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Why? We're trying to set up a system that will allow us to hold elections without duplicating the same information over and over again. – Ajraddatz (talk) 19:17, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Whenever someone will change the template in the future, all past elections will be modified too. I mean …. Are you sure of doing this? --Plagiat (talk) 09:26, 3 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yes. The texts have barely changed over years now. If unexpectedly they will, past elections can always be substed. --MF-W 22:26, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
And where to translate "Contents Yes • No • Neutral" grey box? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 05:31, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Translation of start times and such?

edit

Is there a way to translate the parameters given in {{TNT|Steward election status|year=2017|startdate=01 February 2017, 00:00 (UTC) (exact date and time may change)|enddate=21 February 2017, 23:59 (UTC)|uselang={{int:lang}}}}? --Stryn (talk) 14:21, 5 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

It should be possible to do this using mw:Help:Extension:ParserFunctions#.23time. The template already contains code using #time for the dates, but apparently something doesn't work yet. --MF-W 22:49, 5 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Question period

edit

Only 3 days of pre-election question period? Sorry, this does not sound acceptable to me at all. The majority of votes are being casted on the first days of SE, and it will hardly be possible to base these votes on the answers to questions with such a ridiculously short pre-election period, at that time. I hope the start day will be changed. --Vogone (talk) 11:33, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

For the record, I had proposed the shortened question period because of past complaints that the election was too long overall and that the question period in particular added no value. I see now that this is actually not the case, especially because it seems like candidates delay the submission of their candidatures until the last days of the nomination period. I have now proposed in ElectCom to prolong the time between the end of candidatures and the beginning of the voting again. --MF-W 13:47, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hooray! --MF-W 19:42, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Though I still object!!! – Ajraddatz (talk) 19:47, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Why would one object to such a wise proposal? --Vogone (talk) 19:48, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
True greatness is demonstrated by implementing that stuff one opposed! --MF-W 19:49, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well no need for me to be a sore loser over it :P – Ajraddatz (talk) 19:53, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Central notice

edit

Is there a central notice for nominations? I haven't seen it. --Rschen7754 01:44, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Matiia (talk) 01:55, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Rschen7754: In theory, it should be viewable only by sysops, to avoid a flood of void candidacies. If you're still not seeing it, I shall ask some JS expert to have a look at the banner code. —MarcoAurelio 21:33, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Script updated by Seddon (WMF). Thanks! —MarcoAurelio 23:11, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@MarcoAurelio: I haven't seen the banner neither at random wikis nor at el.wikisource where I am sysop. —Ah3kal (talk) 05:31, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ah3kal: The campaign has a traffic limit set at 50%. Please check if you have a JS or CSS local or global that disallows centralnotices and, if not, try to refresh the page or do random search and check if it appears. If it does not, I think we should approach @Seddon (WMF): or @Glaisher: to see if the script is causing issues. —MarcoAurelio 09:26, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@MarcoAurelio: Still can't see it. Here are User:Ah3kal/global.js and s:el:Χρήστης:Ah3kal/common.js, I don't think anything dissallows centralnotices. I also do not recall suppresing the notice.—Ah3kal (talk) 09:38, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I can't see it anywhere. QuiteUnusual (talk) 10:16, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I was able to see it at Tamil wiki and Mediawiki but on meta after clearing cookies only i am seeing the campaign.--Shanmugamp7 (talk) 12:04, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I was able to see the banner at Simple English Wikipedia several times just now. I'm not sure why Seddon reverted the banner to a previous version with deprecated globals though? --Glaisher (talk) 15:38, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I finally saw it on Wikidata. --Rschen7754 19:16, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I saw it also on el.wikisource. —Ah3kal (talk) 20:03, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Glaisher: Actionism after MarcoAurelio wrote a mail to the CN mailing list, probably to make sure the code indeed works. It's probably fine to revert this change again. Regards, --Vogone (talk) 17:36, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Was there an ever a problem with void nominations? MechQuester (talk) 20:01, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Stewards/elections 2011 is a good example. – Ajraddatz (talk) 20:33, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Double vote

edit

Dear election coordinators, I happened to notice a double voting, see these two edits combined: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Stewards%2FElections_2017%2FVotes%2FCekli829&type=revision&diff=16331180&oldid=16330966. I suppose you will have rules how to handle this. Kind regards, Ellywa (talk) 16:03, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not from the ElectCom, but I notified the user and now there is only one vote left, so solved. Stryn (talk) 16:18, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
thank you! Ellywa (talk) 23:28, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
