better registration signup

edit

I realized we have all the manual registrations/sign/ups differently displaying in different translations of the page. Now I am thinking that we should have it as separate sub-pages that get transcluded into the main page. What do you think @OwenBlacker and @Andrerodriguex? --05:19, 18 February 2023 (UTC) Zblace (talk) 05:19, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I did think that at the time; you're right. The difficulty is that the headings need to be in the outer page, with only the signups on the subpages.
Is that something you need me to set up, or are you ok with that yourself? —  OwenBlacker (Talk) 11:48, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Andrerodriguex do you know how to do it? I would love to have it as elegant as we have it on Wikidata LGBT+, but it can be also in other ways. --21:42, 19 February 2023 (UTC) Zblace (talk) 21:42, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Zblace I don't think I know it yet but I'll will try to make it. I'll send you a message if I have trouble while doing it. Andrerodriguex (talk) 18:12, 20 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Andrerodriguex, @OwenBlacker should we maybe archive QW Office Hours for February after next session as a separate sub-page? Post reports (on session) + review of experience + plan how to follow up on the main page?

March sessions

edit

For March I would skip March 8th *(not to take visibility and focus from Women Day), then plan sessions on:

  • Translation and Interpretation needs+methods? (include language diversity discussion)
    • Maybe we do it in Spanish primarily and with English translation?
    • @Vic Sfriso (WMAR) could you lead? + We invite Turkish interpretators
  • FLOSS vs. Closed software options? (include Fediverse)
  • ...open (burning) topics / (no) theme?
    • ... please suggest ideas :-)

--Zblace (talk) 06:55, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

For the session about software, instead of starting with the duality open vs closed, I would suggest to start with a list of needs, based on the activities you want to run during the conference. For example: a tool to broadcast live and/or prerecorded content, a platform to stream this content, a videoconference tool where everyone can interact and including feature X and Y, a text-based tool to discuss including feature X and Y, a schedule tool, a platform to announce updates and sessions, etc. You would also prepare a short list of priorities (e.g. accessibility on mobile, interface translated in several languages, open source, etc.) Once you have these lists, you can look at existing tools that meet your needs, see which ones match with the features you want and your priorities. This will hopefully allow you to make choices that meet both your practical needs and your values, and avoid too many theoretical debates. Auregann (talk) 15:15, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Auregann If we have ripe program Yes, but as we extended Call we might not have all of the needs be clear by then. I would hope we can fix 50% by then, but then also go in the opposite direction and think how we use some of the FLOSS tools to have a day on open platforms. ;-) I am sure both Outreachy folx and CROW enthusiasts will appreciate an effort. --Zblace (talk) 13:50, 2 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

April sessions

edit

For April I would suggest we change the dates and times to fit better people that own them. We should maybe try sessions focusing on:

  1. Communication, Promotion and Outreach work (maybe do it twice in different time zones)
  2. updates of Nodes, Partnerships and Program (maybe as 3 x 30min sessions)
  3. Latin America/using Spanish with EN translation (maybe summarizing most topics)

@Auregann @Vic Sfriso (WMAR) @OwenBlacker

...any ideas on what else could be urgent, useful and/or relevant, or even what to de-prioretize? --Zblace (talk) 13:50, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

As we did in March, I think we should skip this first week to focus on planning how the upcoming sessions will look like. We can then work on some specific topics, something that's less brainstorming than our past office hours and more hands-on. Since we're getting closer to the conference, I believe we should set more deadlines for ourselves. These deadlines don't have to be aggressive, but they will help us keep the work flowing smoothly. One good deadline could be to open the registrations a month prior to the conference, on the 12th. Also, we don't necessarily have to approach this in a session, but we should follow up with a discussion about volunteers. Andrerodriguex (talk) 21:55, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Andrerodriguex as we are late with announcement and no new inputs I think we can only plan session for next week (not on Monday) on Communication, Promotion and Outreach work...maybe for Wednesday 12th of April (so it is exactly month ahead of the event), where we could do a special notices for registration. @OwenBlacker @Vic Sfriso (WMAR) @Auregann are you OK with this and would you have any inputs for sessions in weeks after? --Zblace (talk) 07:56, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Zblace Sounds sensible to me — OwenBlacker (Talk) 10:13, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
It seems like a good solution @Zblace Andrerodriguex (talk) 02:48, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
After the #1 I will try to do #2 also in the coming week, but I would really love if @Vic Sfriso (WMAR) with @OwenBlacker would fix the #3 asap and advertise it to (tentative) Spanish speaking participants. --Zblace (talk) 13:10, 16 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

May sessions

edit

Lets start planing May and what needs to be done in this format just before and just after the QW2023. My only ideas at this point are:

  • tech tests and support (with nodes and participating individuals)
  • follow-ups/what-next support (with initiatives and coordinators of follow up activities)

Any other inputs? --Zblace (talk) 13:10, 16 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

April is almost over and I would appreciate and we are close to last Office Hour before QW2023 focused on tech testing and support...who is interested to test and what of our tools? @Andrerodriguex, @Sky Harbor and me would love to test BBB, but also Jitsi and ... of course Zoom and Telegram with @OwenBlacker. @Vic Sfriso (WMAR) and @Freddy eduardo with translation setups? @Pharos, @Bluerasberry can you suggest and/or join us what could work for you? Anyone else, anything else? Who needs any other tech support answered? Please list if you have any date and time *(+zone) preferences for next week! Some of us start from Monday! :-) Other ideas? --Zblace (talk) 11:27, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
That sounds like a good idea. Monday is a public holiday here, so I can do a little more during what would otherwise be the working day… — OwenBlacker (Talk) 11:45, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Zblace knows this already but I'll mention this to others as well: I'm generally available so let me know when is the best time for all of us to meet up. I'm probably less available on Tuesday and for a bit on Monday evening (all times at CEST), but otherwise I look forward to testing our technical tools together so we're ready. --Sky Harbor (talk) 15:32, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Great. Than we plan for Monday morning for @Imacat at far east and later in afternoon for Americas + later in the week depending on availability and needs of others. @Andrerodriguex can you archive and report April and start May session #10 for Monday at 8:30 & 16:30UTC
Thank you! --Zblace (talk) 15:59, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Zblace Sure! Also if anyone has ideas for this and/or other sessions feel free to contact me and we can try planning things :) Andrerodriguex (talk) 16:52, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
