Talk:Merchandise giveaways/2021
Spreading the word
editHi all, I have made a mention of this page on the Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish Wikipedia general talk pages. All the best, Taketa (talk) 19:03, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
- Following the smart idea of Taketa, I did the same on itwikivoyage and wikidata. When the candidatures will decrease, I will post the message on/inform users of other wikis with pleasure.--Alexmar983 (talk) 22:22, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- Like my predecessors, I did the same on plwiki and commons. All the best, --The Polish (talk) 14:17, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

Strange page
editI didn't know that such a page like this exists when I received this message two months ago which used a template that doesn't work at de:WP. When I saw that some people had spent a bit of their life time to vote for me I thought it would be fair to spend some further life time to decipher the template which didn't work so that their votes wouldn't be senseless at all. I sent my mail the same day in early October but didn't get an answer until now. My life will be fine without such a giveaway like it was before but I think this is quite an effort for nothing, not that much for me but for the voters. Resources are limited was part of the message to me. That's true. NNW (talk) 15:55, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hi NNW, thanks for the work on the German Wikipedia. I have contacted SHust on their talk page, who was the person who approved your t-shirt. They should be able to help you. All the best, Taketa (talk) 22:41, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hello! The date SHust wrote that message at my de:WP talk page was his/her last date of editing at Meta, too. NNW (talk) 09:26, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
Who has shirts page left unupdated?
editI was thinking of making a few nominations, but it's quite awkward to do when the "Who has shirts" page isn't ever updated and the only method seems to be searching through archives, which are spread out between here and en.wikipedia. From a quick glance, I've seen duplicate nominations so perhaps I'm not the only one having this problem. Lewis Hulbert (talk) 17:02, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- @User:Lewis Hulbert I will look at seeing if I can get that page updated in time. I am however currently clearing up the backlog. Ill need to go through the logs and update the page. I am taking over responsibility for this process :) Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 08:51, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
Privacy
editAre the recipients' addresses deleted after the shipping? Do you fulfill requests for deletion of private data? Nemo 11:54, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Self-paid gift
editCan one make a "private" or anonymous gift to a user via this system, paying the costs and skipping the endorsement phase? The benefit would be that the recipient doesn't need to share their address with the fellow wikimedian. Nemo 12:01, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Using some t-shirts as a prize for commons Photo challenge
editWhat if we, the "organizers" of commons, use this service to give a price to those who took part to more than 2 or 3 competitions in commons:Commons_talk:Photo_challenge? Or we use as a standard prize for those who reached the podium more than once? Or for those whose images are efficiently use soon after the upload. Something like that.
Ok, I am sure I can leave some simple nominations here in any case without "legal framework" if I am in the mood ... but the point is: many of those uploaders are newbies or very specific users. So it's not the same batch as the other candidates here who are long-term users. In any case at the the same time I am sorry that we give them only a barnstar, especially when they try so hard month after month and provide commons with amazing pictures, sometimes pictures of topics that we really miss.
So I am looking for a clear agreement here... we can't start to leave proposals here and there. If we do something, we maybe should send to you a simple list of recipients we agree in discussion once a year, something like that.
Plus, they're good photographers. They can send you very nice pictures using the shirt as a theme!--Alexmar983 (talk) 10:36, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- Alexmar983 I think that is a great idea! I agree with you about the excellent work being done by the Photo Challenge participants. They deserve to be rewarded in the way you suggest, and I don't think it would be unfair to other editors as they usually are a different group of users than the typical Wikimedian.--Saintfevrier (talk) 11:41, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- Saintfevrier thank you. Some editors at the Commons Photo challenge started to talk about "testing it for a month" so I guess they didn't understand that my proposal was once a year. The probably discussed about some serious prize in the past and did not get this is not a serious prize but a thank you (someone even said that people might use sockpuppets or metapuppets to get the prize... for a shirt :D)... But if WMF still agrees it is a good idea, I think we can do it. The names of the current usual uploaders of photo of good quality such as Olga1969, Gozitano, Rosapicci, Kora27, Ibex73... are known. We can make a small discussion once a year to revise the list but it does not look very complicated. It's only a "physical thank you".--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:50, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Jurors of WSC2017
editHi, I'd like to send a T-Shirt to some of the jurors who helped for Wiki Science Competition 2017. A multiple proposal does not seem practical in the nomination page. Can someone ping me here when you have time?--Alexmar983 (talk) 22:37, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
Hola
