In Bengali Wikipedia, there are very few articles related to Sikhism. After scrutinizing the English Wikipedia articles, it has been noted, the quality of the articles are not up to the mark. So, to improve the content of Bengali Wiki articles, help from Punjabi Wikipedians are highly needed. I suggest for a collaborative bilingual or multilingual project to improve the articles in both Bengali and Punjabi Wikipedia, and may be in English Wikipedia. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 20:19, 29 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Regularization of Wiki loves Monuments event in India

edit

Indian photographers have participated in Wiki Loves Monuments event in 2012 & 2013 and uploaded more than 27000 photographs in total. Not only that, Indian photographer Pranav Singh won the first prize in 2012. But in 2014, India didn't participate in the event. Participants are requested to discuss for a possible targeted approach to help Indian photographers participate in the event every year in a regular manner. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 04:42, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Possibility of GLAM Projects in India

edit

GLAM projects are hugely lagging behind in India with comparison to European countries. A past GLAM project at National Crafts Museum, New Delhi in 2012 and an ongoing Wikipedia-in-Residence programme at the Department of Pathology, Calicut Medical College, Odisha are the only oases in the the huge desert. In this discussion, possibility of future GLAM Projects in India needs to be targeted. A list of possible institutes in India, where a GLAM project can run, also needs to be sorted out, so that they can be approached in near future. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 04:42, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

I and Charan Gill discussed that the common thing between Punjab and Bengal is that both these states were divided when India got Independent. So, we think that both these communities should collaborate to improve and create content related to Partition in as many languages as possible (Most Indic Languages). For example, we can improve article related to Saadat Hasan Manto and create articles on all his stories. There are a few elderly people still surviving in our villages. We can plan a project to make their videos as they tell what happened. These videos will help in improving Wikipedia articles as well, as we don't have much written sources related to villages. This will help in writing the histories of such villages. Aim of the Wikimedia movement in to create and share the sum of all human knowledge and not just the information which directly helps Wikipedia Articles. Although all these videos can be embedded in the articles related to these villages as well. I think such Audio-Visual knowledge is going to be very much important. --Satdeep gill (talk) 16:30, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
