Workshop Interest and Recruitment

The University of Minnesota is working with Wikimedia (and other online communities) to develop guidelines for researchers to more effectively work with and support online communities.

We invite you to help out with a study to help develop these guidelines. You will have the opportunity to explain the values of Wikipedia and advocate for the well-being of Wikipedia and its users. If you're interested, please respond below and we will reach out with more information!

What will be expected of me if I want to participate?

You'll join other Wikipedia community members in a 2-hour online workshop. You will participate in activities and discussions to uncover Wikipedia's values (as you see them) and ways that research can help or harm the community.

Will I be compensated?

@Bluerasberry Thank you for your continued interest! We recently recruited on r/Wikipedia which got us really close, but are 2-3 participants shy of quorum to start the scheduling processes for our next workshop. Inevitably, the selected time won't work for everyone.

@Daniel Case No worries! We have another workshop with researchers, editors, and WMF employees coming up on April 30th, from 3-5pm CST. Are you available then? We have a consent form + a few pre-workshop questions that help us seed the discussions with your asynchronous thoughts. Are you comfortable filling out survey off platform?
