- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:
What | Value | Example / Explanation |
---|
Proposal | ||
---|---|---|
Language code | ms (SIL, Glottolog) | A valid ISO 639-1 or 639-3 language code, like "fr", "de", "nso", ... |
Language name | Malay | Language name in English |
Language name | Bahasa Melayu | Language name in your language. This will appear in the language list on Special:Preferences, in the interwiki sidebar on other wikis, ... |
Language Wikidata item | Q9237 - item has currently the following values:
|
Item about the language at Wikidata. It would normally include the Wikimedia language code, name of the language, etc. Please complete at Wikidata if needed. |
Directionality | LTR | Is the language written from left to right (LTR) or from right to left (RTL)? |
Links | Malay Wikipedia | Links to previous requests, or references to external websites or documents. |
Site URL | ms.wikisource.org | langcode.wikiproject.org |
Settings | ||
---|---|---|
Project name | "Wikisource" in your language | |
Project namespace | usually the same as the project name | |
Project talk namespace | "Wikisource talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace) | |
Enable uploads | no | Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons. If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons. |
Optional settings | ||
Project logo | This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation). | |
Default project timezone | Asia/Kuala Lumpur | "Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones) |
Additional namespaces | For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk". | |
Additional settings | Anything else that should be set | |
Proposal edit
This is a proposal for a new Wikisource project in Malay. There is a localized main page in the multilingual wikisource, though not currently maintained. There are lots of historical and important Malay documents that can be digitized. We have done a bit of work, see oldwikisource:Perlembagaan Persekutuan Malaysia (Constitution of Malaysia). Discussion edit
Arguments in favour edit
We must have wikisource ms, because we need other wikipedia community languages to know that our language wiki is very productive. It is also important, to enrich our Malay language wiki so that other wiki community too will know our beautiful and colourful Malay language culture. So that's why we must have wikisource ms! ASAP. — Imran Al-Sahih 16:35, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I strongly support the creation. Didie 03:06, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Nothing can go against the creation of Wikisource Malay! Izzudin 23:28, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- Nothin? An insufficient project in the Incubator will do the trick. GerardM 09:16, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- I support this. Putera Luqman Tunku Andre 09:49, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

- Support, current number of sources in Malay on the Old Wikisource is 200++. It's time to create its own Wiki. --Kurniasan 19:45, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Arguments against edit
I DID NOT SUPPORT!!!.. kidding ngehehe Izzudin 23:27, 21 December 2007 (UTC)- Only 37 pages on oldwikisource. John Vandenberg 11:30, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'll upload more ~100 pages once the new wiki is set up. Aviator 17:54, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
General discussion edit
- I don't think we should make a test project at the Incubator. The project already has its home at the Oldwikisource (see oldwikisource:Category:Bahasa Melayu). Moving our project to the Incubator first and then to the new domain would mean unnecessary extra work. Aviator 17:52, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- All most used MediaWiki messages has been translated as of r28799. [1] Aviator 13:59, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- When will the new wiki be created? I think all the conditions are met, and we've been waiting since last year. Aviator 23:31, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- It looks like localisation of the extensions used within Wikimedia are still missing. See betawiki:Translating:Group_statistics. Siebrand 11:20, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Localisation effort edit
Currently 99.11% of the MediaWiki messages and 4.15% of the messages used in the extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation have been localised in Betawiki. Thanks, GerardM 07:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, for the record, MediaWiki's messages are constantly being added and changed. We are trying our best to keep up with completing the localization effort. We may have done the translations 100%, and yet, the next day more new messages will surely appear. Aviator 20:48, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- The Proofread Page extension is not translated yet. John Vandenberg 07:10, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- Things will not go bust on 1%. They may go bust on 25%. FYI: Currently 96.70% of the MediaWiki messages and 70.35% of the messages used in the extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation have been localised for Malay in translatewiki.net. Kurniasan has been doing a nice job lately, but could use a lot of help. Cheers! Siebrand 22:55, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
