A committee member provided the following comment: Arwi is a historical written variety of Tamil. - The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.

Arwi is mainly spoken the by the Sri Lankan Moors. It has a rich and long history.

editArwi (لسان الأروي lisān-ul-arwī or lisān al-arwi; lit. "the Arwi tongue"; அரபு-தமிழ் arabu-tamil or Arabo-Tamil) is a written register of the Tamil language that uses an Arabic alphabet. It typically has extensive lexical influences from the Arabic language. Arwi was used extensively by the Muslim minority of Tamil Nadu state of India and Sri Lanka. The majority of Madrasas still teach the basics of Arwi as part of their curricula.

Discussion
edit- I have included Tamil as part of this list of languages which are written in multiple writing systems.
I recommend that a Tamil script to Arwi Arabic converter be created and installed on Tamil Wikipedia to enable all Tamil articles there to be read in the Arabic script at the click of a tab (eg. Serbian Wikipedia, Kurdish Wikipedia). --Ernesztina (talk) 03:32, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
