Movement Charter/Drafting Committee/Updates/Member change June 2023

MCDC membership change

Dear Wikimedians,

As a process facilitator for the development of the Movement Charter, I would like to inform you that Ravan Al-Taie (User:Ravan), an elected member of the committee, decided to step down from her membership for personal reasons in May 2023. The committee and the supporting team would like to thank Ravan for her participation and input in setting up the committee, preparation of the first drafts of the Charter, and community conversation cycles.

As the Drafting Committee is deep into content work, especially with the new drafting groups of Global Council, Hubs, Roles & Responsibilities, and Decision-Making proceeding with their content and conversations, the MCDC has previously decided that there will be no further replacements of the members as from January 2023. This means that the committee will continue with 13 members for now.

At the same time, the Drafting Committee is striving towards sharing the drafts of the aforementioned content (Global Council, Hubs, Roles & Responsibilities and Decision-Making) for community consultation in mid July, leading up to Wikimania 2023. The Drafting Committee looks forward to your engagement and feedback during the community consultation process.
