Meta talk:Protected against recreation
Sounds good. See also what was done on Commons, specifically this talk gives good links. Commons:MediaWiki_talk:Cascadeprotected (there are some MW pages that may possibly be a good idea to modify to explain things) If this page (Protected uncreated articles) is cascade protected, just naming off an article on the page protects it without further effort. Note that I think the name maybe ought to be parallel named and called "Protected against recreation" instead of the current name. That's what it is called on Commons (Commons:Commons:Protected against recreation (and on en:wp too I think). There is a very useful template to name off the pages which gives logs and other useful links: Commons:Template:Protected title Although maybe it's called other things on other wikis... ++Lar: t/c 13:35, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- I copied over Protected Title (and some of the templates it uses, but I still have more to do there, however it works correctly) and used it on "the weather in london" to see how it looks. revert me if you don't like it but I think it looks good. ++Lar: t/c 17:05, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, your test worked well ... ;-) I love it. Also I agree we are better to go to have this kind of pages in the same name over projects. Would you have an interest to coordinate matching the name? By the way, I think the name on Commons clear and like it. --Aphaia 02:09, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I'll be glad to coordinate things between there and here. Unless you have a strong objection I'll just move this page on top of the redirect (from the parallel name Meta:Protected against recreation) I set up, change MediaWiki:cascadeprotected to match Commons (Commons:MediaWiki:cascadeprotected ,so that non admins get the proper warning messages if they try to recreate things), and change the rest of the files on the page to use the template invocation... I think that'll finish making everything parallel to Commons and en:wp... if there are loose ends I'll take care of those as well if you just let me know what they are when you spot them. David Levy did en:wp and helped Nilfanion and I do Commons... I'll ask him if I'm stuck. Thanks for kicking this off! ++Lar: t/c 04:35, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- All what you proposed seems fine to me. Thank you for your coordination in advance. :) -Aphaia 10:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- I set up cascadeprotected, to see it in action, try to create/edit a page on this list as a non admin... I moved the page to the new name, and left dated soft redirects behind. Maybe they should be hard redirects, am not sure about that. I think that does it, once I change the rest of the files on the page to use the template, but will circle back to see about loose ends later. ++Lar: t/c 17:13, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Please include...
edit...Darky Arse and Nagger, then delete it. I came across it at Special:Orphanedpages, and it doesn't need to be an actual page now that we have this! Thanks, Iamunknown 03:14, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
