Help with removing Translation tag

Can anyone remove all the translation tag from this page? The page is getting bigger day by day and it's not necessary to translate all the contents of this page. Wasiul Bahar (talk) 11:15, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

@Wasiul Bahar   Done with this edit. ─ The Aafī (talk) 13:18, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
I need to remove all {{Tunit}} calls. I can’t do it right now, but you can ping me if I have not done it in 24 hours. --Pols12 (talk) 14:36, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Request for feedback on the Translation Notifications extension

Hello everyone,

Hope this message finds you well.

The Language Team would like to receive feedback about the Translation notifications extension. If you use (or used) this extension to send or receive notifications we would like to hear from you.

We have previously received reports about the notifications being a bit spammy and notifying too many people, which made administrators hesitant to use it. We would like to highlight how we’ve addressed this issue but before that we’d like to discuss the following:

  • Explain how the Translation notification operates to avoid any misconceptions about its behavior
  • Improvements made to the extension to reduce the number of notifications sent
  • Receive your feedback about the Translation notification extension

How does the Translation notifications extension work?

The translation notifications extension is used to notify translators who wish to help translate content, specifically translatable pages, of requests to translate a page into their language.

Translators can sign up for notifications for languages they wish to translate on the Special:TranslatorSignup page. Subscribers can choose to receive notifications via email or on the talk page on a wiki of their choice. They can choose to be notified as soon as the request is sent or, they can select the option of receiving a periodical, weekly or monthly digest if a notification was sent out during that time.

Translation administrators can use the Special:NotifyTranslators page to notify subscribed translators when new or updated content is available for translation. The page allows the administrator to filter the languages they wish to notify the translators for, select the translatable page they want to be translated, and set the priority and deadline to submit translations.

When sending the notification, if the translation administrator selects specific languages, only translators who are subscribed to those languages will be notified.

And that's it! Translation notifications is a simple extension that we hope can help localize more content and draw translators attention to content that is relevant. Please let us know if you have any questions about the functionality provided by this extension.

Improvements made to the Translation notifications extension

To address some of the concerns about the extension being too spammy, we have configured a script  to run every 3 months to remove subscribers who have been inactive for a year. We added functionality to skip sending notifications for some languages that should help administrators narrow down the audience they want to deliver the notification.

In addition, we made it easier for existing subscribers [1][2] to unsubscribe from receiving notifications.

Request for your feedback

We would now like to hear from you if you have any concerns while using this extension and what more we could do to improve confidence amongst administrators when using it. Please leave your comments on this thread.

Thanks for your time.

Thank for this clear notice!
It is often difficult to judge whether a translation request requires a notification. In my opinion, the best design would be to have an advanced priority system with expiry deadlines. In this way, a newsletter could have “Urgency” priority (highest) until 15 January, then automatically subsided to “Historical” (lowest); whereas another page would have “Documentation” priority (middle). Translators would choose how to be notified depending of the priority and deadline (for short deadline, being notified through a monthly digest does not make sense). -- Pols12 (talk) 14:36, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Update request

Hi, can anyone review the update on this template? I need to review for continue to my works. Kurmanbek💬 13:37, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Done For new content, you should not set manually the unit markers (<!--T:xx-->): they are automatically handled. I have only reused them for which the content have not changed. -- Pols12 (talk) 03:15, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Living Heritage subpages

Do we really want to have dozens of subpages from Wiki Loves Living Heritage marked for translation? They are frequently updated by ListeriaBot and need to be marked for translation after every edit. Typically there is no real content to translate on these pages, e.g. Wiki Loves Living Heritage/Elements. --Ameisenigel (talk) 16:30, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

It's a very complex data-related page. Maybe it's intentional? I tried by creating an Urdu sub-page but I couldn't find anything in Urdu. Perhaps because Wikidata items on the page don't have Urdu labels and else. @Susannaanas can tell better. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:11, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
If the bot frequently update them, we can consider designing a system where the bot only work on a transcluded subpage/template. So main page would only be edited by humans. -- Pols12 (talk) 19:01, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
That would be useful. --Ameisenigel (talk) 14:24, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
That should do the trick. However, I’ve not enough time to apply it elsewhere for now. -- Pols12 (talk) 20:38, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Message group Celebrate Women?

Hi translation admins,

We've got a presentation today about the upcoming Celebrate Women event and I want to talk about language translation statistics for a bit. The link for translations works, but when I click on "message group statistics" in the top (which shows me the # of languages the page has been translated in) all of a sudden the group does not seem to exist? Manually inserting the message group name from the URL also does not help me. Appreciate your help. Ciell (talk) 09:19, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

(No rush, my bit in the presentation has ended. Still curious if anyone knows the answer though?) Ciell (talk) 17:09, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
I checked with MessageGroup statistics for this specific page and it works finely. ─ Aafī (talk) 18:39, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Ah, I think I know what I did wrong, thanks Aafi! 1) no underscore in the title, 2) select from drop down menu. Strange though that does not work when I click the button/tab in the top from the translation interface: "Display preferences" -> "Message Group of prefix" is empty.
