Hi, I'd like to gain translation admin status in order to translate (by the moment) the central notice messages. I am bureaucrat in Asturian Wikipedia and sysop in Asturian Wiktionary. I'm not sure if this is the right page where to submit my request. If not, please I apologise. Thanks in advance! --Esbardu (talk) 09:41, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Per Meta:Translation administrators, I don't think you need it for translations, but can be done by anyone from Special:Translate. Please correct me if I am wrong. Savhñ 09:51, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I referred to this page where you can translate the banners that appear on top of the local wikipedia's main page, I tried to edit the boxes but I can't. The link you gave me is for the page of terms of use itself (I am going to translate it too). I can translate this page without any additional permissions. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Esbardu (talk)
- Hi there! Thanks for volunteering to translate but Savh is correct, you do not need to be a translation administrator to do translations, only to mark pages as needing translation. I think the page that you are looking for to translate the Central Notice itself is CentralNotice/Shared. I've synced the 3 bits that have been translated for the ast language code. Only Meta-Wiki Administrators are able to sync and update the Central Notice, and we do that frequently - if you'd like something to be synced and nobody has done it after a period of time, feel free to drop a note at RFH or on my talk page and someone should get back to you. - OK, thanks for the information! I've seen you updated ast langage code. But how can I translate the text boxes of this special page? When I try to edit them, the cursor shows red colored and I can't write on them. Sorry for not signing before --Esbardu (talk) 10:49, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Those pages can only be edited by local meta administrators, but they are regularly sinchronized with the subpages. Savhñ 11:15, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Yep, but if you translate at <http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ATranslate&taction=translate&group=page-Terms+of+use%2FBanner&language=ast&limit=100&task=untranslated>, I will be able to sync it for you. :) The Helpful One 11:18, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you very much! This is where I wanted to arrive! I translate them right now! --Esbardu (talk) 11:29, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- No problem! I synced your translations, if you have time then if you translate <http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Terms+of+use%2FIntroduction&language=ast&task=view> then I will adjust the link so that when I sync to Foundation Wiki clicking on the banner will take you to the ast version. If you've got even more time then you could translate the actual Terms of Use itself too, <http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ATranslate&taction=translate&group=page-Terms+of+use&language=ast&limit=100&task=view>. Thanks again! :) The Helpful One 11:39, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
