Kvardek du edit

Ending 7 March 2018 21:52 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Kvardek du. I'm fr-N, en-3, es-2, eo-1, eu-0.

Who am I?

I've been contributing since 2010, mostly on French Wikipedia, Wikidata and Commons, but also on different languages and projects. I've been a sysop on frwiki since 2014. I'm also an OTRS volunteer. In 2017, I was elected at the Board of Wikimédia France, where I'm in charge of treasury.

Why requesting the status?

I have two main needs :

  • In Wikimédia France, as we seek transparency and easiness, we decided to move most of our chapters pages and documents to Meta. We don't want it to be a special supplementary work for Meta admins. Most of my work would be maintenance in Wikimédia France pages, in particular finance (as I'm treasurer).
  • I do some translation on Meta, and being admin is an easy way to become a translation admin.

In the future, I would be happy to help for any admin task on Meta (currently, let's be honest, I've got little time!).

Thanks for reading! Kvardek du (talk) 21:52, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Oppose I'm unconvinced that you need the rights to do whatever it is you need to do (it isn't exactly clear, though, how you will use the rights). Further, viewing it as some springboard to translation administrator makes little sense as you can apply for that separately, and it gives me the vibe of hat collection. Hi, I didn't want to be too long, but here's a collection of things that I could do with the tools:
    • Protecting pages about our policies (travel policy, micro-funding...) to ensure they're not vandalized
    • Protecting administrative pages for archive
    • Deleting pages created by mistake (there will be some)
I don't think requesting the appropriate tools for volunteer work should be categorized as hat collection in our movement. Kvardek du (talk) 09:55, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question @Kvardek du: What you seem to be applying for is to become a limited administrator rather than a full admin, non? As Nihlus states above, you could also apply separately for translation admin. Green Giant (talk) 20:03, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I hesitated, I thought it was easier and less time-consuming doing a single request, but it seems it is not. Kvardek du (talk) 09:12, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose Significant misunderstandings of the role of admins, and translation admins. --Rschen7754 01:50, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose There is no demonstrated need, your statement indicates that you do not know what it means to be an Meta administrator. —AlvaroMolina ( - ) 12:07, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As be a regular admin on Meta, you must be certain broader participation at here in actively, significant misunderstandings of demonstrated statement are not going to be realization. Look at your contributions as Green Giant has stated at above, it since that you should apply the translation admin in separately instead. SA 13 Bro (talk) 22:37, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done, no consensus. If you need some admin action, please make a request at RFH. And feel free to request translation adminship, if you need it and know how to use it. Thanks for volunteering. Matiia (talk) 01:15, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
