Hi all, my name is "Daniel". I have the SUL username across Wikimedia, with the exceptions listed here. I use the nicks "DanielB" and "IKnowNothing" on IRC.
I am currently a temporary administrator on Meta to make my life easier in co-ordinating the board elections. However, while I have been a temporary sysop I have come across half a dozen incidents of vandalism/repeated nonsense page creation/etc., but unfortunately due to the scope of my temporary adminship I was unable to do anything. I idle in #wikimedia also, and there's been another dozen or so times where people have had routine tasks requiring admin tools (author requests deletion, move page over top of history and history merge, etc.), but I was similarily unable to help them out.
If the Meta community would be happy to allow me to assist them with the administrator-like tasks noted above, I'd be honoured and happy to help out. I have over 300 edits to this Wiki and a handful of sysop actions, which I hope have proven I'm not batshit insane :) As for experience with other projects as an administrator, I am a sysop on English Wikipedia (active), OTRS Wiki (active), and Wikinews (semi-active). I confess that I will not be much use with the spam blacklist or similar, but I feel that I could be of use with the more day-to-day anti-vandalism and routine cleanup/housekeeping stuff, if you are happy for that to happen :)
Although this is far down the line and with many hurdles in between, I can confirm (per a question posed to me privately) that I would not seek automatic bureaucrat tools. Although I think it's a great idea for a project like Meta (kudos to all, especially Majorly, for managing to implement what was a "radical idea"), I would prefer to deal with tasks that I outlined above, pending the community's wishes in this discussion, and defer to others when the infrequent renames and promotions are required.

- (My temporary adminship runs until the end of the election window, so if this RfA is successful I would suggest that all that happens is my name gets moved from "temporary sysop" to "normal sysop" and the stewards won't -sysop this account as they would have otherwise. If this is unsuccessful, I would simply be -sysoped at the end of the election as would have happened had I not filed this RfA.)
- Support I see no reason why not. --Thogo (talk) 05:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Support I think Daniel's got a pretty clear track record of not doing stupid things with his admit tools (something all the more important if global blocking is implemented), and his case presented here is rather reasonable. EVula // talk // ☯ // 05:32, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
