May 2008 batch of approvals edit

Several requests were approved: Wikinews Czech, Wikipedia Fiji Hindi, Wikipedia Karakalpak 3, Wikipedia Moksha, Wikipedia Sakha, Wikipedia Silesian, Wikipedia Sranan Tongo 2, Wikisource Limburgish, Wikiversity Czech, and Wikiversity Portuguese.

    Hello,

    I don't have time this month to take care of these requests, since I'm busy with the election committee. I've summarized the current status of the requests ready for approval below, in case someone else would like to help.

    These meet all the requirements, but are waiting for independent verification. (Requiring verification is seeming increasingly unfeasible to me.)

    If I understand correctly, you favour skipping verification for all requests that have an existing domain?

    I've asked Cometstyles, who lives in Fiji and speaks Fiji Hindi, to verify the content of the Wikipedia Fiji Hindi test project (he only edited it once, to remove spam). He'll likely reply soon.

    The Wikimedia Foundation language subcommittee is examining a request to create a Silesian-language Wikipedia (a free encyclopedia project). The last step before we approve it is verifying the content. We would appreciate your help in doing so.

    Please visit <http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/szl>, and respond with your opinions of the content. Is it well-written? Is the content neutral (not biased towards specific viewpoints)?

    With Moksha verified, all the requests for the <s>April</s>May batch have been verified. I'm marking them approved and tying up loose ends (final translation, et cetera).

    Hello,

    The language subcommittee recommends the approval of the following wikis. You can find more information about each request by following the links to the status pages, which collect the relevant information and links. As we've previously agreed with the board, these recommendations will be implemented if there are no objections within four days.

Exempt established languages from verification edit

The requirement for professional verification of content was lifted for languages that already have a Wikimedia wiki.
