Welcome email when visiting new local wiki?
I recently visited fr.wikipedia.org for the first time, so a local account was created for me. I didn't realize this had happened until a bit later when someone wrote on my Talk page and I got a notification email. Since I wasn't aware that a fr.wikipedia.org account had been created for me, I wasn't expecting this to happen. I initially thought it was phishing, and then I thought that my account had been compromised somehow. Only later did I realize that the local account had been automatically created when I visited fr.wikipedia.org.
It would be helpful if users received a notification email when a new local wiki account is created for them, so they understand what is going on.
Something like:
"Hi! You've just visited the <fr.wikipedia.org> as <paulmco>. A local wiki account has been created on the <fr.wikipedia.org> for you. You can visit your new <fr.wikipedia.org> Talk Page <here>. You can view a list of all your local accounts <here>. You will continue to receive these notification messages in <English>, since your home Wiki is <en.wikipedia.org>. Thank you!"
Not "logged in" in mobile view
Hello guys, my account is unified logged in but the mobile view in other wikimedia projects seems to be unlogged in and if I switched back to desktop view I'm logged in again. Can someone help me? Thanks! --hueman1 (talk) 08:43, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- @HueMan1: If you login in mobile view, does it persist? Generally these things are browser-related, not related to the login itself. — billinghurst sDrewth 11:31, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Billinghurst: Yes, it persist. My question now is how do I deactivate the unified login? Thanks! --hueman1 (talk) 05:28, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- It says, "Central login. You are centrally logged in. Reload the page to apply your user settings." --hueman1 (talk) 05:31, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- And I even need to switch to desktop view just reply as me (as a user). --hueman1 (talk) 05:33, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- ??? I am not understanding. Deactivate the unified login? — billinghurst sDrewth 06:59, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

- It may be caching issue. The message you're seeing comes from MediaWiki:centralauth-centralautologin-logged-in-nouser and you just need to refresh (reload) the page for your local login to take effect. If that doesn't resolve the problem, try navigating to Special:UserLogin and log in locally. –Ammarpad (talk) 07:10, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Ammarpad and Billinghurst: This is the problem, I'm logged in desktop view but not in mobile view, now I just want to deactivate my unified login. Can you help me with that? --hueman1 (talk) 07:36, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Unified login is a great feature but it's a hassle to switch back in forth mobile and desktop views. Some please, just remove my unified login. Please. --hueman1 (talk) 08:03, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- 1) It is an issue with your login is with your browser, no one else is reporting the issue, most likely due to your cookie settings. 2) You cannot deactivate part of your unified account, it is a unified account; that is what unified means. — billinghurst sDrewth 11:51, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

It's normal that sometimes you are logged in on mobile, but not in desktop. And sometimes you are logged in on Meta-wiki but not in Wikipedia. Definitely a bug in CentralAuth. Stryn (talk) 12:07, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Funnily just now when I clicked the "mobile view" link bottom of this page I got a message "Central login You are centrally logged in. Reload the page to apply your user settings.". I reloaded the page, got the same message. And I'm not logged in there. To get logged in automatically you need to click the "log in" button there. Stryn (talk) 12:10, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
