This may be old...
edit...but I feel that some modernized version of this (such as "ask devs on Phabricator and they'll set it up ASAP") would be easier than going through Incubator/Langcom/Translatewiki hell for months to years. LFN was screwed bigtime; first forced onto Wikia, then having to go through the hell that is the SIL ISO code process, then having to use a "test-project" on Incubator for about a year, then having to go through Translatewiki for localization, then having to wait months for the actual MediaWiki to be created after LangCom approved it. Rewrite 2022
editThe current version of this page is probably the reason why there are emails on the Wikipedia-L mailing list every few months, in which people ask to create a new Wikipedia. There is nothing else on that list.
So this page is kind of obsolete, but there is nevertheless something valuable about it. It's one of the first Google results when you search for the title "How to start a new Wikipedia", and it is a reasonable thing to search for. While the official pages are Requests for new languages and Language proposal policy, they are somewhat advanced, and a page with this title and simpler, readable instructions, is still quite useful, so it shouldn't be deleted.
I do plan to make a few changes: Remove the pointer to Wikipedia-L, give newer localization tips, etc. But there are also some useful tips here that should be simply preserved. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 07:41, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
