Grants talk:TPS/Silva.1994/FOSScamp Syros 2017
Feedback requested
editDear Silva.1994,
I see that you, Sido uku and Nafie shehu have all submitted requests for travel support from Albania for your participation at FOSScamp Syros 2017. Based on the agenda for this event, it appears that the three of you are collaborating at this event. Generally, in the Travel and Participation Support program, we try to limit the number of requests we fund for any given event. If we fund multiple people to attend the same event, it needs to be clear what additional outcomes would be achieved by sending each additional participant.
Is it possible for you to provide any additional feedback about why you believe it is necessary for all three of you to attend this event?
Warm regards,
--Marti (WMF) (talk) 21:03, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Dear Marti (WMF),
Yes, Sido uku, Nafie shehu and me are all members of the same local community and we are also recently contributing to Wikimedia. In the last month we had two events in our hackerspace, dedicated to Wikipedia as part of our efforts to grow our local community, raise contributions, enforce working as a community, aiming to create our Wikimedia Chapter one day. Details on these events:
Many people have joined us and have shown interest on Wikipedia and it's related projects. Proceeding those events, Nafie, Sidorela and me thought of joining FOSScamp and keep our work going during this event. Each one of us will be hosting workshops with different topics to cover. In the section of Goals and expected impact I have added the information explaining what I aim to achieve during this event, the numbers of atendees I expect in my workshop and the outcome of it. Sidorela and Nafie also added a detaild description related to the outcome of their workshops:
We will work on adding elements about Syros island so the whole thing will have a local character. Giannis Konstantinidis, from the FOSS Aegean community, will also help us since he as been organizing many local events similar to this so we can share experiences. We are also hosting a Wikimedia meetup on the fifth day to discuss together and get organizied on the future events we will organize related to the Wikimedia Project and how we cant take it further in our local community. Please let us know if there is any other information we need to provide.
Best Regards,

editDear Silva,
In light of the seven separate confirmed Agenda items for Fosscamp Syros 2017 for you, Nafie shehu and Sido uku, as follows:
- 360' photo shooting workshop & adding photos in the Commons (part 2 of the day) - hosted by Anxhelo Lushka & Silva Arapi;
- Adding multimedia materials generated from ground work using the Wikimedia Commons Android app & CommmonsLab app - Silva Arapi & Aleksander Koko (part 3 of the day);
- Wikimedia meetup - hosted by Andis Rado, Nafie Shehu, Sidorela Uku & Silva Arapi;
- Adding Wikipeda articles of Syros in OpenStreetMap workshop - hosted by Sidorela Uku;
- Geolocation of Syros buildings in Wikidata - Sidorela Uku;
- Wiki Loves Maps workshop & presentation - Nafie Shehu;
- Wikipedia editing workshop - focusing on articles related to Syros - hosted by Nafie Shehu;
in light of the specific set of differentiated outcomes you have each added to your requests, as follows:
- Silva.1994
- There will be 8-11 participants on each workshop.
- We will have around 100 photos uploaded using the mobile applications
- We will upload 12-16 from 360' photos.
- Sido uku
- There will be 10-12 participant on each workshop.
- We will add relation to Wikipedia and Wikidata for 80 objects on OpenStreetMap.
- We will reference almost to 80 items on Wikidata with geo-location.
- Nafie shehu
- There will be 11-13 participant on each workshop.
- We will create and improve more than 50 articles on Wikipedia related to Syros.
- We will add geo-location to Wikipedia in all the articles which we created during the first workshop and more since we will going to add in differend languages and we will add geolocation in more than 100 articles.
and in light of the fairly small costs of each request, I am approving all three of your requests for this event.
Please review the next steps for your grant as described in "How the program works". Note that your post-event report must provide a link to an outcome from your participation. We recommend that you start planning your outcome now so you are prepared to submit it as part of your report, which is due 14 days after the event. An outcome does not include the materials you prepare to present at the event (though we’d like you to link to those, too), but something that is created during or after the event because of your participation, such as a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, a blog post you wrote to share your experience with others after the event, or a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event.
Our Grants Administrator will be in touch with you about your grant. Thank you for work on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation.
