Request not funded edit

Dear Frhdkazan,

Thank you for submitting this request. We really appreciate your dedication to participating in the Wikimedia movement. However, we don't fund participation in roundtables through TPS. We focus on more robust forms of participation that are likely to have more impact. Ideally, we prefer participants to do a presentation, host an editathon and/or run a workshop. In addition, we like to see a follow-up plan to further support engagement by event attendees.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Dear Marti (WMF), Thank you for your comments. For me this was a valuable experience in itself, as it would help me to create a simple step-by-step guide in Russian for use by others.
I welcome your follow-up plan idea & kindly request you to provide a link to documented best practices in this field, as well as including it into the sample format in the form generated @ Grants:TPS/Apply (currently missing).
I believe I have shown my intention to make three presentations, which is supported by links. What's the reason you choose to ignore presentations and concentrate only on two round tables (where I was invited as one of main speakers too)?
For the future, I understand that you & other members of the committee might be overloaded and didn't read thoroughly enough. I understand you might not have had time to check links I've provided or your Russian was not enough to understand those. This means successful application requires more than what instructions say.
The outcome for this particular grant request became irrelevant on Sunday/Monday, when it became clear I have no time to attend & speak at the event anyway. I will make it to Moscow for informal meeting with attending Wikipedias in the languages of Russia community members (8:00-10:00am on Sunday morning) on my way to another destination & I have already bought my own tickets day before yesterday.
For me this was mainly an experiment about whether a person who follows standard instructions would be able to receive funding without previous experience and knowledge of what and how should be formulated to be understood. I now know that WMF is not yet great in providing simple & clear instructions about what it will fund and what not, and we need improve it.
Marti (WMF), I wonder if we can have members of Wikipedias in the languages of Russia from regional & aboriginal language communities write their grant requests in Russian in some simple standard form themselves or should we always have someone to make respective translation into English? --Frhdkazan (talk) 10:29, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
