Comments from I JethroBT (WMF) edit

Hello Geugeor and Alangi Derick, thanks for your WLA proposal. Apologies for the long delay in our review. I had two requests/questions regarding your budget:

  • Please describe in more detail what the Conception : 45,50 USD expense is being used for.
  • The budget for T-shirts seems high relative to your expected number of participants-- we cannot fund T-shirts for all event participants. Please consider a different kind of merchandise, or reduce this budget to just include T-shirts for the event organizers.

With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:22, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I JethroBT (WMF), Thank you for your message.

  • Conception : 45,50 USD corresponds to the costs which allow for the realization of the models (for t-shirts, roll up, ...) by the computer graphics designer before printing.
  • We have provided 10 T-shirts for the best winners and 7 polo shirts for the organizers.

Thank you for telling us if you think that we still have to reduce the costs of T-shirts. Regards, --Geugeor Georges (talk) 21:52, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Geugeor: Thanks for these clarifications. Unfortunately, Rapid Grants cannot be used to provide compensation for people's time related to graphic design services, so please remove this budget item. In terms of the apparel, the 7 polo shirts for organizers are fine, but we will not be able to fund the 10 additional T-shirts, as the prize budget for the event is already substantial. Please update the budget accordingly. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 04:26, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Current concerns related to Wiki Loves Africa 2020 edit

Hello User:I JethroBT (WMF);

We have received funds related to Wiki Loves Africa 2020. We had already started communication on social networks and several participants had uploaded the images before the recommendations for the Covid-19 were published.

The organizers postponed the closing of the contest : April 15, 2020.

We decided to continue with the contest by limiting our activities exclusively online. Compared to the budget, several headings will not be implemented. A webinar has been designed to help participants, but we are forced to consider the problems of internet access, to use a lot of internet connection and phone calls since then. This is a small change to the budget and will be highlighted in the last few days before the contest closes. I wanted to let you know and find out if it would cause any problems?

Thank you for your help once again.

Hello Geugeor, I will respond on behalf of Chris Shilling. Thank you for letting us know about the changes in your program and planned activities. I truly appreciate that you have cancelled all offline activities scheduled before September 15, 2020, making the contest exclusively online. I understand that due to the COVID-19, some of the activities will not be implemented and corresponding funds will not be used. It is also reasonable that your budget for the Internet and phone calls is increased. I want to ensure that these changes will not cause any problems. Our first priority is the health and safety of you and your Wikimedia community. Please stay safe and take care! --DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 17:19, 10 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request to extend the report deadline edit

Hello DSaroyan (WMF),
Thank you once again.
I apologize for not having offered another extension of the deadline for Wiki Loves Africa 2020.
The competition is certainly over, but we haven't finished with all the results. So in addition to the Covid-19 pandemic and awaiting the final results, I would like us to postpone the report to August 30, 2020. Thank you
