Hi Mikael Häggström. Thank you for this grant request and all the great work you and others are doing with the WikiJournal of Medicine. We understand the costs associated with the journal and are happy to support the project through this grant. We typically do not pay for retroactive expenses but recognize the journal's board only now approved reimbursement for the costs. Before we send any grant funds, we will need to review receipts for the Crossref fees already incurred. It would also be helpful to hear if the board has thought about ways to sustain the journal's costs beyond 2017. Grants are always an option, but developing other sources of funding or partnerships are also recommended. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 02:59, 17 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Alex, and thank you for the good news! I notice that what I have at hand are invoices and transaction data from my bank, but I am now asking at Crossref to provide receipts as well. Being hosted by Wikimedia servers results in a minimal sustainable cost of $291, which is low for a scientific journal. Chances are that it generates even more by attracting donations to Wikimedia Foundation. Nevertheless, additional grants are very valuable for further outreach and scholarly participation, such as the mentioned membership in The Committee on Publication Ethics.
