Hello, Kateregga1; thank you for submitting this grant proposal. Even though it was submitted outside the official submissions dates, we will make an exception because these dates took place during the same time as Wikimania 2019.

This year we have received many more applications than we originally expected, and our funds for the contest are limited. For this reason, we are asking organizers to submit grant requests under 1000 USD. Please make a first round of adjustments in your budget and ping me; then I can come in with further comments. Hello MMontes (WMF) (talk) thank you for the consideration, we have made the first round of adjustment on our planned activities and budget. Will be waiting for your further comments. Regards Kateregga1 (talk) 04:41, 23 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hello again, Kateregga1; thank you for making these adjustments. Most expenses look okay; I just have concerns about the eligibility of two of them:
  1. One of them is the photo hunt. As per the current Grants:Project/Rapid/Learn funding guidelines, Rapid Grants is no longer supporting external travel. Would it be possible to redesign the photo hunts so that rather than sending two photographers to remote locations, research is made about the strategic monuments missing from Wikimedia in the area you or your collaborators live, and organizing a photo hunt to cover them with volunteers? The cost of the external travel and accommodation could then fund local travel and refreshments for these participants.
Hello MMontes (WMF) (talk) thank you for the feedback, we have redesigned the photo hunts to focus on locally organized events, one in each of the 4 regions of the country, targeting local photography groups and schools.
  1. The other question I have is about the outreach materials. What is the intended use for them, where will they be placed? Are you considering reaching out directly to photography clubs in Uganda?
The outreach materials including posters and flyers will be placed at tourist sites and photography schools to encourage participation among people who wouldn't easily see our online campaigns.
If you are unable to respond today (it's my last day at WMF), please make sure you copy WJifar (WMF). Thank you! MMontes (WMF) (talk) 12:04, 23 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
