Questions about your report edit

Hello Yohannvt thank you for submitting this report for our review. I have a few questions for you:

  1. I understand from the grant proposal that this was meant to be a laptop purchase for Wikimedia India that would be under the care of राजु सुथार (Raju Suthar) but in this report I see that it became a camera purchase instead. Can you please explain the change in proposal/purchase?
  2. It looks like you had great success with the photo uploads. Can you please provide the category of your images so we can see the photos your volunteers uploaded?
  3. Please submit your receipts for the camera purchase at <rapidgrants@wikimedia.org> so we can accept your report and close out your grant. We will not be able to process future grant requests until your report is accepted and your grant closed.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 16:26, 23 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@WJifar (WMF): Sorry for the delay. I have sent the bill to the mail and Yohan has written the camera by mistake because I bought the laptop.--Raju Jangid (talk) 11:41, 5 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@WJifar (WMF):Sorry for the delay & mistake by me here. Raju has sent the main laptop bill & we had an unexpected & unbudgeted transportation allowance. Please find the final grant report completed. -- 06:30, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Follow-up on your report edit

Hello @Yohannvt: and @Raju Jangid:. Thank you for updating the report in February, and for submitting the expense documentation. I have some additional questions and comments before closing out your grant:

  1. The jump from 6,000 to 16,000 is a significant feat! That's really impressive, and it's great to hear that the laptop contributed to coordinating meet-ups .
  2. Please note that once a grant is approved, no changes should be made to the project budget unless a request is posted on the submission page, and approved by a program officer. While we understand that unexpected travel expenses were incurred, we encourage you to communicate this to us as soon as possible in case we are able to advise or provide additional support for the grant project. Since we are finding out about these expenses now, could you provide any receipts or expense documentation for travel? If they are not available or were un-receipted, could you provide more details about
  3. I think you were about to list the new Hindi editors, but the sentence was not complete.
  4. Have you reflected on which strategies to use in following-up/engaging with new editors?
  5. As WJifar (WMF) mentioned in her post, could you share a link to the photos that were uploaded? We are always delighted to see media from grant projects, and hope you are able to share yours more widely!

Thanks once more for your work and patience, and we look forward to closing out this grant soon! -- All the best, Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 20:32, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @MJue (WMF):. Thank you for the follow up on the report. Please find the explanations below
  1. I think, this massive edit count, was just because , WMF was able to support a brilliant wikipedia contributor & gave him the tools to accomplish this.
  2. Regarding the travel, these remain un-receipted. The applicant generally traveled by local transport like bus & train to go & meet the new contributors. Since this travel expense was spread across the year & since the applicant was travelling by local transport, it was very difficult to gather any receipts. The applicant groomed many new editors, as mentioned in the report & in many cases met them offline, where the expenditure was done for travelling.
  3. I have already listed the new hindi editors in the Outcomes section - भोमाराम सुथार;तेजू जांगिड़;Jeevan Suthar;J Ansari;Vishal thakur;Dr. Pradeep Kumari Dermatologist;अजय सिंह
  4. While engaging new editors, Raju Jangid tried many strategies like creating editing goals, have weekly discussions with them, asking the new editors to always assume god faith and ofcourse, spreading some WikiLove.
  5. As i had already mentioned in my reply to WJifar (WMF), i had by mistake mixed up my laptop report, with another report of Camera. Due to this, it was incorrectly understood that there were some photos uploaded, but actually there were no photos uploaded.

Please feel free to reach out for any more queries. - Yohannvt (talk) 11:02, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Report accepted edit

Hello, Yohannvt. Thank you for your responses and clarifications. I hope that the strategies for continued engagement with new editors will continue and with more support from the community! Given your explanations, we are happy to mark this grant report accepted and complete in our records. I want to reiterate that in any future WMF grants, if you anticipate any changes to your approved budget, please make a request to the Rapid Grants team first, as we will need to capture any finance-related changes in our records to remain compliant with our external auditors.

Thank you for your work for the movement, and I hope this laptop continues to serve you well for future campaigns and projects! All the best, Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 17:53, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
