Questions about your request

Dear Ovva olfa,

Thank you for submitting this request. We are happy to be able to support Arabic Wikipedia Day and the community-building and content creation it generates. Before we finalize funding, however, I have some questions and some feedback about your proposal:

  • In your Project Goal, you mention that you want to provide “ten gifts gifts for the best 20 participants.” Based on your budget, I believe you meant twenty gifts, right? If this is correct, could you make this revision to the goal?
  • Can you say more about how you will define “best” editors? I’m not very familiar with reading Query code. Will this code be able to assess both quantity and quality of edits? If it just assess quantity, do you have any ideas about how to support high quality content?
  • Mailing prizes can be very complicated, especially over large geographic areas. Have you considered ideas for prizes that would not have to be physically mailed? Like gift cards that could be emailed, for example?
  • If you are sure that you prefer to mail physical prizes, I understand you to be asking to give each of the 20 best participants a backpack, a T shirt with the logo of wikipedia, pen and a mug. Generally, for writing contests, however, it’s more typical to give each individual a t-shirt or some other small prize. We would like you to choose one of these prizes and adjust your budget accordingly (perhaps considering which will be easiest to package and mail!)

Thank you for your efforts to support Arabic Wikipedia!

Dear Alex Wang (WMF)
Thank you for your questions and your comments, you find below all answers for your questions
  • about the numbers of gifts, yes it is 20 I fixed it
  • define “best” editors , it easy to define the best editors after the end of the the arabic wikipedia day,a statistics will be made with the query code to identify the best participants of the day there is 2 codes one for the biggest creators of articles the second one for the biggest reviewers of articles, and we will put a list of criterion with points to select the best 20 participants, as examples you find in this page the two list of the The 13th Arabic Wikipedia Day
  • Mailing prizes can be very complicated Mailing will not be complicated, specific in the arabic world it will be very easy only for syria and oman so we will not send gifts to this to countries
  • Mail physical prizes, I will change the gifts, we will give backpack for the first 5 participants , T shirt for the second best five participants and mug for the last ten.
