Hello Kolobetsoo, welcome to Wikimedia Foundation grants! Thanks so much for submitting this comprehensive grant application. We are glad to learn about your proposed project! I have reviewed your application and have some questions:

  • Could you please confirm that this grant is not requested on behalf of the former Wikimedia Community User Group Botswana?
  • What tools will you use to track participants’ contributions to Wikiquote?
  • I noticed that you have no experience of editing on Wikiquote. Do you have any experienced editors in the team who have experience working with Wikiquote? Please note that we need to make sure that you have experienced editors in the team who can train participants for Wikiquote before we can move forward with this grant request.
  • Will all project participants be from the Botswana Wikimedia community?
  • In the detailed budget, you have a line for “Fly Box for internet connection Organisers”. Are you going to purchase these Fly Boxes? If yes, I’d kindly request to rent this equipment instead because equipment purchase is currently not eligible in terms of the Rapid Grants.

Thanks again! Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:13, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi DSaroyan (WMF)

  • This is an individual grant request.
  • I will use the https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org dashboard for the edits people do.
  • Anthere will be as a mentor throughout this project.
  • Participants will be mostly new editors.
  • I will change the Flyboxes to rent.

Regards, Kolobetsoo

Hi

Just a note... I noticed the timeline is a bit wrong because the SheSaid event will take place around October-November. So some dates need to be updated to better reflect the actual timeline :) Anthere (talk) 17:34, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Anthere, thanks so much for your feedback. Could you please confirm that you have experience in working with Wiktionary and you'll support this event?
Hello DSaroyan (WMF). SheSaid will be on wikiquote, not wiktionary. I actually have no experience on wiktionary really. But do have some on wikiquote as we run #shesaid last year already. Last year we also hosted some training webinars (it has been recorded and is available) and we will do more. We also worked with some fairly active wikiquote editors in the main languages. We chose wikiquote for several reasons. First it is actually easier for new comers, with a more friendly environment (than wikipedia). Second, it requires sourcing information. Our newest team members on the WLW focus group being librarians (they were trainees of Alice), I believe it makes sense to make them work on wikiquote rather than... the challenging wikipedia environment. I had a very long day (I trained people on copyright issues for 7 hours) so I am quite tired. I may not be very clear in my explanation. I will send you tomorrow an email to explain my thinking on the wikiquote choice. cheers. Anthere (talk) 19:52, 15 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Anthere, I understood your point. And sorry for the confusion, I actually meant Wikiquote. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 05:59, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Dear Kolobetsoo, could you please adjust the dates as Anthere has suggested? Thank you both! --DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 06:07, 15 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
