Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)
edit@Atudu: Hi Atudu, and thanks for your thorough report on part II of your Wiki Loves Butterfly program. It's a pleasure to read this kind of work, so I want first want to congratulate you on excellent reporting. Here are my comments:
- This gallery is really stellar work. The photos are, of course, excellent, but I also want to remark on quality of the structure of the page: It is easy to navigate, the pictures are reasonably aligned down the page, many species have multiple photos available or ones highlighting different angles of the subject. This is the kind of depth I'm used to seeing in the highest quality content that our projects offer. It sounds like the planned photowalk in the botanic garden was a great help to these achievements, not to mention a great way to celebrate the work from your participants. This graph detailing the growth relative from Wiki Loves Butterfly Part I is also a nice addition to this report.
- The accompanying article work on bn.wikipedia is also highly appreciated, as is the effort to incorporate a sufficiently large proportion of these images into article content. I think the focus on field work in this Part II was sensible.
- Most importantly, it is good to see the work you have done in community engagement by setting up dedicated contributors across the districts you worked in, so that this work can continue, and that you are already thinking about your next destination and how to engage locals to participate in this series.
- One question I had around your desire to translate some of the articles your participants have prepared through this program-- in what ways have you been trying to contact translators? I may have some suggestions for how to contact and make requests for translation if you are not getting many responses.
I have approved this report, and wish you continued success in continuing to promote Wiki Loves Butterfly. :) I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 23:34, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- @I JethroBT (WMF): Hello, Chris Jethro Schilling, Thank you so much for your detailed discussion of our Wiki Loves Butterfly (WLB Part-II) report and for the acceptance of the report. We are very much concerned over about the point of some of our articles being translated in other languages and thus to render a nice multilingual badge to our project.
For this purpose we had invited different language communities to translate our articles (Indic language through mailing list ) and we sent SWAG materials (Post Cards) to the world wide participants of Wikimania 2017 at Montreal intimating all about our project and inviting the to give the project a multilingual flavor. But we don’t get proper responses till now.
Hence, please do suggest and support us with your valuable advice in this regard so that we can do better next tie in this multilingual respect.--Atudu (talk) 04:55, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
