Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Articles for disabilities in Macedonian
Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)
editHi HO Iskra, thanks for your proposal for these edit-a-thons focused on physical and mental disorders. Developing articles on these topics for Macedonian Wikipedia is no small task and I am glad to see some events dedicated to their development. Here are my comments on the proposal:
- Before this proposal can be approved, I would like you to seek out and identify the experienced editors who will be available for these events and update the grant proposal accordingly with these individuals' usernames. If need support in identifying and contacting experienced editors, please let me know and I'm happy to help.
- Thanks for mentioning the individuals who will be volunteering their time for catering, social media outreach, and other logistics for the event. Regarding photography, for attendees who do not wish to have their photo taken during the event, how do you plan to accommodate those requests before the event occurs?
- Outside of attending morning shows to promote the event mentioned in the proposal, what other tasks will the project manager / event planner be responsible for in this project?
Let me know if you have any questions or if I can clarify any of my comments further. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:59, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Answers to Jethro's comments
edit1)For accommodating the potential requests from participants (newbie and expert editors) that don’t want their photo taken, this will be one of the questions in the form every participant will have to fill out. Since we will have nametags for everyone, which will have collars, the people that do not want their photo taken, will get a different colored collar for the nametag from the other attendees. Same goes for all the other attendes, but they will be asked directly and if they answer negatively, will be given a different colored nametag with a collar. That way the photographer will know before hand not to take their photos when they are in the shot.
2)The Project manager will be responsible for the overall successful execution, control and closure for the project. This will include:
- booking the venue
- ordering banners, the goods for the giftbags
- create, receive and review the submitted forms from the participants,
- communicate with them throughout the whole process,
- develop the schedule for the editathons,
- prepare all the necessary materials, such as the copies for the schedule, short wiki editing guides, seeking out reference material and making copies,
- supervise the work and review the content from the social media volunteer,
- organize the photographer and the catering volunteers,
- coordinate all preparatory activities, manage the two events/editathons, ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
- document every aspect of execution, analyze and prepare financial reports under supervision of the president of the nonprofit
3) Shared Knowledge has been contacted by email.
- @HO Iskra: Thanks for these responses. Have you had any success finding experienced editors to help support the event? I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 08:27, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- @I JethroBT: Thanks for keeping track of our application. Shared Knowledge contacted me over the weekend and said to expect a fast response whether they would support the event. I hope to have an answer at the latest by next Monday, December 11th. If you have any questions, remarks or instructions on this matter, please do contact me.
- @I JethroBT: I am pleased to inform you that we had a meeting with Shared Knowledge and they offered us their full cooperation to support our events. Therefore, we have experienced editors at our disposal.
