Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Art+Feminism Editathons in Peru
Comments from WMF
editHello Yhhue91, thank you for submitting this comprehensive request. We appreciate your detailed planning of the upcoming events. It is great that you will have volunteers and organizations supporting your event. I have reviewed your proposal and have a few comments.
- Please specify the type of your rapid grant in the probox. Are you applying as a group or individual?
- You have budgeted 300 USD for “Graphic design of poster, editing guide, social media digital pieces, certificate”. I suppose that this amount covers expenses that are for compensation of graphic designer’s time. Unfortunately, this expense is not eligible, since the Rapid Grant funds may not currently be used as compensation for people’s time. I kindly ask you to remove this expense and update your budget.
Thank you again for organizing Art and Feminism edit-a-thons in Peru! Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:23, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Dear DSaroyan (WMF) Thanks for your response to our grant proposal. I've updated the budget as requested. Also, we're applying as the group, Arte+Feminismo Perú. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear on our original proposal. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. --Yhhue91 (talk) 04:00, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

Amazon Prize
editDear, WMF Grant Team.
We are writing to notify a small change in our budget. Unfortunately, the bank fees for the wire transfer exceded what we originally budgeted. Instead of being 50$, we were charged $106.64. For that reason, we think is best not to include the prize consisting of a 50$ Amazon card so as not to affect other planned activities.
Looking forward to hearing from you. --Yhhue91 (talk) 23:22, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Approval of budget change
editHello Yhhue91, thank you for putting your request here. I am approving your budget change request to reallocate the 50$ Amazon card expenses to cover the wire transfer fee. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 06:03, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
Pospone second event due to COVID-19 pandemic
editDear Rapid Grant team,
As requested by Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director, we are writing to let you know about our decision to postpone the second Art+Feminim editathon we have originally planned, until the covid-19 pandemic is declared over. The second Art+Feminism editathon in Peru was planned to happen in August 2020 in Trujillo city.
We pledge to conserve the funds and to reactivate our work as organizers when it is once again safe to hold an in-person public event. Please let us know if you approve our request.
Best,
Request approved
editHello Yhhue91, thank you for notifying us in regards to the change of your project dates. I am approving your request of postponing your second edit-a-thon. Please let us know if you also need to change the end date of your grant (30 September 2020). Please stay safe and diligent in this difficult time. Take care, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:24, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
Reallocation due to shifting to a virtual event
editHello, Davit. I hope this message finds you well. Unfortunately, we weren't able to write earlier to ask for the extension of the end date of our grant, due to the personal difficulties we have experienced since the pandemic started. We're writing to let you know that, after much consideration, we've decided to cancel the second event scheduled in this grant proposal (the editathon in Trujillo), as the current public health situation in the north of Peru, where Trujillo is located, is particularly severe. If it's still possible to reallocate the funds, we'd like to host a virtual event in April 2021, and we could present the report in May 2021.
We'd distribute the remaining funds (965 USD) as follows:
$250 - Food and drinks for 20 participants takeaway
$30 - Delivery of takeaway meals for participants
$185 - SWAG and prizes for outstanding editors
$30 - Paid ads on Facebook
$30 - Paid ads on Instagram
$300 - Graphic Design of promotional materials
$30 - Zoom license for two months (1 month for coordination and another one for the event)
$50 - Wireless data plan for organizers to run the online event
$60 - Unforeseen expenses
Please let us know if this is feasible and if you need further information from us. Best, --Yhhue91 (talk) 00:09, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
Report and grant end dates
editHello, Davit. We would like to add the information about the dates of submission of the report and the end of the grant, taking into account that our event will take place in April 2021:
- Report submission deadline: May 31, 2021.
- End date of the grant: June 15, 2021
Please let us know if this seems reasonable to you. Best regards. --Yhhue91 (talk) 17:12, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Canceling second part of Rapid Grant funded event in Peru
editDear Rapid Grants team,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you to communicate that unfortunately it will not be possible for the Art+Feminism Peru team to carry out the second part of the Art+Feminism Editathons project in Peru with the grant we received in 2020.
While we were very excited to be able to organize an online Art+Feminism edit-a-thon in 2021, current circumstances prevent us from doing so. The political instability in Peru since April 2021 due to the presidential elections means that the public attention that our activity may receive will be considerably reduced. In that sense, we prefer not to organize a second event in 2021 and concentrate our energies on the 2022 edition and on another Wikimedia initiative in which we are collaborating and which is linked to other more demanding topics at this time (ecology, gender and cultural heritage).
I am sorry for any inconvenience these changes may have caused you. We would like to return the remaining funds of our project and present a report of the first part that we were able to carry out in March 2020, on the agreed schedule (reporting due date on July 15, 2021).
We thank you in advance and look forward to hearing from you on how to proceed. We would be happy to have a video call with you to discuss any further questions you may have.
Warmly,
Melissa Tamani and Christian Bernuy, Art+Feminism Organizers in Peru. --Yhhue91 (talk) 22:08, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
