I am honored to serve in the team for the implementation of this grant. Its was quite interesting to the partners (Kaduna State Government), during our visit to the commissioner of education, they were optimistic and happy for such iniative that will be beneficial to advancing education. I 100% support this project and hope the grant team will give it appropriate considerations seeing how far the "Kiwix Wikimedians User Group" went to ensure partnership is accepted. I am thrilled to endorse the Kiwix4Schools in Nigeria: Kaduna State Pilot Project grant. This innovative initiative is poised to revolutionize education in rural and underserved areas by providing offline access to Wikipedia's vast repository of knowledge. By equipping educators with Kiwix offline readers, we aim to bridge the digital divide and ensure that every educator has access to high-quality educational resources. This project promises to enhance learning outcomes, empower teachers, and promote educational equity. Supporting this grant will have a lasting positive impact on the educational landscape of Kaduna State and beyond. I support this project

Rapid Fund Request : Not Funded

edit

Dear @787IYO,

Thank you for submitting your application. After a thorough review of your proposal, we have made a decision not to fund your proposal. See the notes speaking to the rationale of the decision below;

  • The letter of support is from a year ago and needs to be clarified what interactions this community has had with this institution since then and the work they have done with the institution since then.
    1. The letter from the group indicates that they are an affiliate which is not true at this point in time.
    2. It is also not clear if the partnership has been embraced and confirmed.
  • It needs to be made clear who the specific target is and especially given the project they are choosing to focus on.
    1. For the project to achieve the impact it desires to have we see the need to have a clear target audience. Which specific school are you going to work with ? Do they have the needed equipment and facilities to support the project?
    2. It is unclear on the plan on how the teachers will integrate the Kiwixforschools in their curriculum and how then it contributes to learning outcomes of learners.
    3. A question to think about is; yes, we train the teachers, then what happens?
  • It is unclear how many workshops will be implemented and for how many teachers and this is now well described in the budget, which in the future needs to be in a better format and will details.
  • We see a better opportunity for the group to work with existing affiliates in the country to test the model they are envisioning and to access resources from the Nigeria User Group mini-grant program. Thank you.
