Follow-up questions / feedback from the ESEAP Funds Committee and Programme Officer
editHello @roger651017,
Thank you for putting in a rapid fund application. We have also been in touch with Wikimedia Taiwan to understand further background/ context to your application. While we see the alignment and value of your project, we would like to recommend the following revisions to your proposal:
1) Referencing response to question 7 (and proposed timeline), do note that the earliest start date of the project is 30 September 2024 for rapid fund applications in cycle 1. Please adjust your proposed project timeline accordingly. You can do that by adding a new tab labelled revised to your existing spreadsheet.
2) For question 8, could you please provide more details on the project management and grant management experience of the team. If you do not have prior experience, please share about your experience with the wikimedia movement. For more details, refer to the eligibility requirements. If you find it useful, here's an example - example 1/question 8 (use google translate if needed; we receive applications in multiple languages within the region)
3) For learning and metrics section, we recommend reviewing the section and providing more clarity on the learning questions and how you plan to answer to the learning questions through your project. Would you learn by collecting data (i.e. interviews, consultation etc)? Would you learn by doing (i.e. setting up a specific workflow process that can be replicated by others who may be interested in working in the same area?). The content contribution that you have listed (i.e. 25 for Wikidata) does not seem to justify the total budget for the project (a feedback from the review team). Do help us understand how this project has larger potential through learning or value to the community if content contribution is not possible (or not the focus) at the moment. If you find it useful, here's an example refer to learning and evaluation section - (use google translate if needed; we receive applications in multiple languages within the region)
4) For budget, we recommend, using the rapid fund budget template as it could help you categorise and provide more details on each line item that you are budgeting for the project. At present the budget outline doesn't provide the clarity the review team needs in understanding the investment into the project. If you find it useful, here's an example; grant meta page
Once you have made the revisions above, please respond to this talk page post so that we can finalise the project scope and move it along to approval.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you. Could you respond by 27 September 2024? If you require more time, please let us know.

- Dear Jacqueline,
- Sorry, it lasted a week. Last week’s trip in Taiwan was disrupted by a typhoon, and I had to take care of my children at home during the 颱風假.
- The corrections have been made according to the notice, but I don't know how to upload the new budget file, so I already mail the file to you.
- If there is anything i need to modify, please let me know, thank you
- Regards,
- Roger Roger651017 (talk) 02:36, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

Congratulations! Your grant application has been approved in the amount of TWD 137,500 from 10 October 2024 to 31 March 2025.
Observations/ Recommendations / Notes
- Thank you for connecting via a call and for taking time to work through questions 1-4 together. We noted that you have taken in the feedback and made revisions to your application.
We know even the best thought through plans may change
In the event that there are changes to your implementation schedule, you can reach out to request for a grant extension (i.e. extend end date). Similarly, if there is a surplus budget or changes to your planned budget, you can reach out to me about reallocation (via email and on this talkpage). There is also the option to have the unspent funds deducted against a future grant. More details here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Return_unused_funds_to_WMF
