Very interesting project and seems to be cost effective. However - there is no clear measures of success. I mean - you wrote what questions you want to ask in the surveys - but usually in this section there should be clear statement what you think is success of the project. As it is generally outreach project - the expectation is that it will result in a number of new editors who will stay with Wikipedia after the end of the project and number of new articles and expanded created during the project. The other issue is that you don't have plan for mentoring/help new editors in between the workshops. 6 hrs long workshop + 2 hrs. workshop after some time with nothing in between probably do not produce good results. • I second opinion of Polimerek above: measures of success are not clear for me. Furthermore, we already had a number of gender-gap surveys: what is the difference of this survey? Have you looked through prior experience? Are there any mistakes that you need to avoid here? rubin16 (talk) 14:57, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

WMF Comments

Hi Hesse1984. Thank you for submitting this grant proposal. It's a very well thought-out project and we appreciate the structure you've set up to support both faculty and the broader university community. We definitely want to support this project, but unfortunately the two largest expenses fall outside our scope of funding. We do not generally pay stipends or honorariums for participants even though we do understand your argument for why it may be useful in this case. We also cannot pay Wikimedians to facilitate trainings. The majority of our grants for offline activities incorporate experienced Wikimedians organizing trainings and events. For us to pay for their time is not a sustainable or scalable model. We can reimburse them for any expenses incurred to attend the event, such as local transportation and food costs, but not beyond that. That leaves supplies and hospitality left in the budget, which we are happy to cover. Please let us know if you would like to move forward considering our funding restrictions.
