Goals edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

  • The project really helped to make our group more visible and we're really happy about it. The meeting let us know each other and make stronger bonds.
  • Would be nicer to have a bigger amount of content created, but the efforts we did on training new editor sooner or later will bring new content.

Outcome edit

Please report on your original project targets.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
Participants 13 Target not reached. 22 persons inscribed themselves in [event's page in our wiki]. At first we think that the event will be overwhelming for our organizing capacity. Even one person contacted us from outside the province to say that he'll take part of the event, but later for a strike of aviators in the country finally he couldn't join us. We sent mails via Mail Chimp to the people in the list, remembering them about the event and the dates. We sent three emails with instructions and use our social media in that way too. Why they didn't come? It's hard to say (for the rainy day?) and we're exploring the issue to give us a image.
New content 11 + some files 11 new articles were created. We hope to have a bigger amount but we can be happy with the content considering that we use the most part of the time explaining the participants how to create new content, and therefore there was no much time to create it. Already uploaded images were used in the new articles, but also some files were uploaded in situ. The event also included a photowalk and we get new photos of monuments thanks to that.

Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

In our last report we noticed the importance of the sitebanner. We experimented then the lack of a banner for reach people. This time we fixed this, and with almost a month before the event a Central Notice banner was shown to everyone in Colombia. Thanks to this we get a lot of interest from media, we get interviewed for a radio program and from a newspaper of massive distribution. We're very exited about what we can do in the future with the attention of the media.

  • What did not work so well?

We expected more attendees. At first we estimated 14-15 participants, our hopes get higher because of the attention of the media, but finally we barely reach our first estimations.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We must get better in reaching people. Even with the interest of the media, we only reached our first estimation. What we can do? We are still exploring that. The venue was good, but it could be better. To get better venues we should add a fee for that in the grants or keep. At first we think that public places (as libraries) would be free, but now we know that they ask for retributions (money or some kind of workshops).

Finances edit

Grant funds spent edit

Please describe how much grant money you spent for approved expenses, and tell us what you spent it on.

As we had clarified in the emails, we received 177278 COP. Of this amount we spend 172300 COP in the event. The description of the expenses is as follows:

Description Units Total price (COP) US aprox.
Subway Combo 14 172300 58,58

Remaining funds edit

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

The remaining money is 4978 COP (1.7 US aprox). This amount of money is really low, so we think it would be easier for everyone if we could absorb the remaining funds.

Anything else edit

Anything else you want to share about your project?

We want to thank all of you for your help. We think that this event was really positive for our user group and it will help us to develop a stronger community in Colombia.
