Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate glorious or sorrowful heritage, culture, and traditions. They are meant to celebrate or commemorate special moments and emotions in the lives of people. Different tribe in Nigeria have different festivals peculiar to them, its coverage on Wikipedia is limited to stubs, many uncovered and many others lacking contents to tell the story or enrich the experience of the reader or seekers of such knowledge
WikiFestival Nigeria (#WikiFestivalNG) will help bridge the Festival gap that exists on Wikipedia with a focus on Nigerian-related content, this event will bring together different Nigerians from different tribes and cultures writing and improving content on notable festivals.

Project goals edit

For the project: WikiFestival? the edit-a-thon that is aimed at covering the Nigerian festival gap on Wikipedia, we aim to:
- Add and improve Festival related content in Nigeria to Wikipedia.
- Recruit new Wikipedia editors
- Engage and Increase skills for existing editors: by writing independent articles about different Festivals in Nigeria
- Add photo content relating to festivals in Nigeria on Wikimedia commons and using some of the photos to improve existing or new articles on Festivals in Nigeria.
- To cover the festival gap on Wikipedia since quite a number of notable festivals do not have a stand-alone page on Wikipedia.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We are planning two physical edit-a-thon that focuses on creating and improving articles on Festivals in Nigeria, accomplained with one week online session.
2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
- I plan to share notification with members of the Wikimedia Community in Nigeria via the official Facebook page Wikimedia User Group Nigeria official Facebook fan page
- I will also inform my community members at the Wikimedia Fan Club, Lagos state University via our social media platforms such as Twitter [[1]] and the official WhatsApp and Telegram groups.
- With the support f Wikimedians from Wikimedia User Group Nigeria official Facebook fan page, Yoruba Wikipedia official Facebook fan page, Yoruba Wikipedia Community portal.
- I have also started discussions with Lagos State University Radio LASU RADIO, and they have shown interest in participating in the proposed event, by helping to disseminate the information to the general Lagos state University community and the Nigerian community at large.
- I plan to create publications and announcements on social media to pick selected members of the public that will participate in the event.
3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
- Yes, I have experienced Wikimedians from Wiki Fan Club, Lagos State University, and Wikimedia Nigeria Community that have shown interest in collaborating with me in this event. We will also put in place edit instructions for new wikimedians and we also have a great and experienced event planner in our community who has shown interest to be in charge of the event logistics for the event.
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high-quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Yes, the event has been designed to accommodate prospective participants with working devices necessary and required to create articles.
- Internet will be provided at the venue for the participants at the training.
- Internet support will be provided to the participants for the online session
- Experienced Wikimedians will be available to guide the prospective participants throughout the entire period of the event on how to produce quality content.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- Participants will be onboarded to either Telegram or WhatsApp to engage/mentor participants on issues related to content created during the event.
- Participants will also be added to the Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation mailing list for smooth communication of future projects through the mailing list
6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project? There are some festivals that are very prominent and notable in Nigeria and thus deserves a stand-alone Wikipedia pages.

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:
- If at least two edit-a-thon and a week online sessions have been organized
- If at least 20 people participate
- If at least 5 new editors are recruited
- if at least 50 articles are created/improved
Resources edit
What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding). I have some editors in addition to myself that are willing to give a talk and organize the practical training. They will be present in all editions of the event to assist in the Proposed Project. They are:
- Kola User:B.Korlah (Project lead) He is an active Wikimedian in Wikipedia:Wikimedia Fan Club, Lagos State University and Wikimedia Nigeria. He is currently the President, lead Coordinator of the Wiki Fan Club, Lagos State University. He has experience both on and off Wiki. Kola has coordinated and lead different Wikimedia Projects for the fan club at Lagos State University. He has successfully lead and organize the Wiki Loves Africa 2020 and the Wiki Loves Africa 2021 photography contest alongside other projects at Lagos state University.
- Shola User:Olaniyan Olushola He is the President, Wikimedia Nigerian Foundation and he is a well-experienced editor on Wikipedia and has successfully led and coordinated various Wikimedia projects.
- Marv User:Mahveotm (Co-trainer) He is an experienced Wikipedian with a whole lot of experience. He curated the Wiki Club, Lagos State University and was the first president and coordinator of the fan club
- Hemarle User:Lordgentual Active Wikimedian and multi-award-winning editor in both English and Yoruba Wikipedia
- Adetoun User:Adetoun16 She is an active member of Wikimedia Nigeria, she represented the Wiki Club, Lagos State University at the Wikiindaba 2019
- Richard User:Edriiic Active member, Wikimedia Nigeria, Wiki Fan Club, Lagos State University. He would assist in the planning of the event majorly
