Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Me and the other volunteers will invite people from Samaru, Sabon gari and ABU Zaria to this work shop, and we will teach them to edit Wikipedia. So it is a training.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have informed the Hausa community in Hausa Wikipedia main pages already.https://ha.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Kofan_al%27umma#Hausa_Wikipedia_Workshop_in_Zaria. Also, I intend to use social media chanel to inform the Hausa community. That is, via WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We will use social media to create awareness about the workshop. Most people in our community are familiar and used facebook better. So we will focus on facebook and other social media outlets like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

The likes of User:Musa Vacho77, User:Anasskoko, User: Uncle Bash007 and User:Aliyu shaba are all experienced editors. Therefore, they will help in carrying out this project.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Most participants have mobile phones, so the only support they might need is that of data during the training.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will create a WhatsApp group for the participants to keep them engaged and to ask questions where necessary.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project will cover the whole of Zaria local government in Kaduna. Also, a two days workshop training.

Impact edit

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. The project is a two days event. So there will be two different events.
  2. A minimum of 30 participants are expected to show face in the event.
  3. We will register at least 25 new users
  4. We will create and polish 50 articles cumulatively.
