Celebrating Wikipedia 20 in the Ancient City of Ibadan
The wikipedia20 in Ibadan will focus on celebrating the Wikipedia birthday with notable and physically disadvantaged people in the society, as a way of promoting social inclusion on the internet. The idea behind this concept is to use Notable and physically challenged celebrities as a mouthpiece to encourage the inclusion of other physically disadvantaged people in society to be involved in community building. The project will identify three Notable Nigerians or celebrities based in Ibadan who will serve as Role-models for other physically challenged members of the society to celebrate Wikipedia at 20. There will also be a mini-meetup and cutting of Wikipedia cake with the Wikimedian community members in Ibadan.

  3. Motivation Scheme: I plan to Provide gifts for winners of the proposed edit a thon as motivation and payback for the time and resources that be invested in the program.
  • I plan to create a communication channel to monitor performances and attend to post-training challenges.

If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)

The proposed participants do not have skills to participate and contribute high quality content, so, i have decided to do the following:

  1. I will Introduce experienced Wikimedians that will support the hosting and mentoring program of the event.
The target audience will be introduced to the existing team in Ibadan as part of the mentoring process and the followup process.
I will ensure that trainees must have at least mobile phones for editing Wikipedia.
I will ensure that the mentoring program is extended way beyond the training period. Also, I will ensure that most of the experienced wikimedians will be available for the mentoring program.
  1. How will you promote and let participants know about your Wikipedia 20 event? Please describe or link to the spaces you will be using to inform your community about your activities. Please note there are resources available to support your communications for Wikipedia 20 events.
I plan to inform the Nigerian community via the listed channels:
  1. I have met with leaders of the Ibadan chapter of the physically challenged association, and they were very excited to collaborate with us on this project. Subsequently, I will set up a whats-app group for communicating between our team and members of this group.
Also, I have contacted three notable physically challenged personalities that will feature in the proposed video, and they have all shown a commitment to being available for the production.

How will you keep participants engaged after the event is over? How will you be sharing photos, videos, or other content from your activities after they are completed?

  1. The videos will be promoted on social media after the event for publicity and awareness
