  1. What kind of event(s) or activities are you planning to hold for your Wikipedia 20 event? Please let us know if these events include a meetup, edit-a-thons, workshops, photowalks, contests, or any kind of campaign.
    We are planing to have series of trainings and two edit-a-thon events. This will include workshops, edit-a-thons and meet-up.
  2. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)
    Yes, We have experienced Wikipedians to help us. Ngozi Osadebe, Ezinne Njoku and Beatrice Ewa, facilitators in Nnamdi Azikiwe Librry edit-a-thon are our members and are available to help us.
  3. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)
    We will train the participants to contribute high quality contents. We planned to schedule series of trainings to equip the participants with the neccessary skills to contribute high quality content. Moreover, our participants are post graduate students who have been doing research. Training this category of students requires minimal effort. Moreover, Ngozi Osadebe and Ezi Njoku have been working with students with disabilities as inclusive librarians and are versatile in training students with disabilities.
  4. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
    This project has been publicise at the Nigerian User Group Talk page (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria). The Post Graduate Students with Disabilities has been discussing the project on their WhatsApp platform since the project idea was concieved.
  5. How will you promote and let participants know about your Wikipedia 20 event? Please describe or link to the spaces you will be using to inform your community about your activities. Please note there are resources available to support your communications for Wikipedia 20 events.
    The idea to engage in this project was concieved by the students themselves and has been on discussion at the WhatsApp group platform of the students association, Association of Post Graduate Students with Disabilities, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. If the project is approved and funded, the project will be further publicised through the University of Nigeria, Nsukka website.
  6. How will you keep participants engaged after the event is over? How will you be sharing photos, videos, or other content from your activities after they are completed?
    Apart from the Post Graduate Students with Disabilities WhatsApp group platform, a WhatsApp group will be formed for participants. Through the WhatsApp group, the participants will receive notification of meet ups and future events. The WhatsApp group will also serve as a platform where participants can chat and share experiences. Pictures and videos taken at the event will be shared through the Commons, Wikipedia free repository of free use images, sounds and other media. The Photos and videos will also be shared through the WhatsApp group.

  1. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Students with disabilities are like every other student. Many of them are intelligent and industrious. They have life ambitions, likes and dislikes. To help these students attain their full potential, it is important they are included in every mainstream University activity. Art and Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon has been held annually at the University of Nigeria Nsukka since 2017 (except in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown) to the exclusion of students with disabilities. This state of affairs is unhealthy and if allowed to continue unchecked will continue to deepen inequality and social exclusion. It may jeopardize the nations efforts at meeting goals 4 (Quality education) and 10 (Reduce Inequality) of the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

This project is being organised by the Surplus People in the Universities Research Group. This research group is officailly recognised by the University of Nigeria. We (the research group) have experiences Wikipedians to help us . Ngozi Osadebe, Ezinne Njoku and Beatrice Ewa facilitators at Nnamdi Azikiwe Library Art and Feminism edit-a-thon are available to help us. The three are members of the Surplus People in the Universities Research Group. University of Nigeria, Nsukka post graduate students computer laboratory is available for participants use. University internet network is also available. Electric power supply is available in the University. There is also a stand by Electric power generator for the post graduate students computer laboratory, though there will be need to procure diesel. Epson projector machine and screen, MTN router, VGA cable, 8 port splint unit and Public address system belonging to Art+ Feminism but domiciled at the University Library are available for participants use.
