This project seeks to take participants through hands-on session for them to contribute to Wikidata using quickstatements, wikishootme and the Mix n Match tool. Participants will also have the opportunity to watch virtually the opening and closing ceremonies of the Wikimedia hackathon 2022 event.

  2. Introduce participants to some Wikimedia tools.
  3. Train participants on different Wikidata tools such as Quickstaments and ‘Mix n Match’.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

This is the first time ever that the Dallug Wikimedians Community has the opportunity to take part virtually in Wikimedia hackathon, it would be a great opportunity for community members to see how these tools are used and makes contributing to Wikimedia projects easy.
  • Participants will be introduced briefly to the various Wikimedia projects since the participants may include new editors.
  • Participants will be given the opportunity to watch virtually the opening and closing ceremonies of the Wikimedia 2022 hackathon.
  • They will also be introduced to Wikidata tools.
  • Participants will be taken through how to use the Wikidata quickstatement tool to enable them carry out mass uploads on wikidata.
  • Participants will practice how to use the quickstatement tool under the guidance of facilitators.

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?

Community members will get to know about the project via Dallung Wikimedians Community Social media channels; WhatsApp and Facebook.

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

We will continue to engage volunteers on our Community WhatsApp group.
