Goals

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? We are happy about how the project went. We particularly happy about being able to:

  • Organise our project during the department week celebration of the Twi language department of KNUST.
  • Exceeded our target of translating 50 articles to translating 87 articles from English to Twi language.
  • Make 40 uploads to commons instead of 30.

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

Unlike our last project, which was organised during the examination period, our project this time was organised during the Department week for the Twi Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In view of this, we had 8 students partaking in the contest with one of the students turning out to be the winner of the contest. Also, to ensure that new volunteers had their challenges addressed quickly, we assigned them to a mentor (an experienced wikimedian). This gave us an added advantage of participants putting in their best.

  • What did not work so well?

Though we had more people expressing interest, some couldn’t participate due to a major challenge of having no access to a laptop to enable their full participation.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We intend to seek support or partnership with Kumasi Hive to enable participants and the community to use their computers for at least an hour a day or on weekends.
