Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- Our recent project was a Wikimedia Campaign where a total of 52 new editors were recruited and the need to have training sessions for them is very important in order to bring them at par with the already existing ones but for us to abide by COVID-19 protocols we will train 50 new recruits putting them into two groups.
- Participants will be introduced to Wikipedia and its sister projects with emphasis on Wikidata, where they will be given practical session of Wikidata.
- Practice will be made on creating/improving Wikidata items on Nursing/Health colleges in Ghana.
- We will have 4 training sessions coupled with editathons for every Saturday within the month of April, 2022.
- We will put the 50 new recruits into 2 groups and each group will have a maximum of 25 participants in order to abide by the Covid-19 protocols. Each group will have 2 training sessions.
- Time will also be spent to assist new recruits who have not been able to create the Wikipedia user accounts for them to create their accounts.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- Information of the project will be shared on Dallung Wikimedians Community WhatsApp group.
- Emails will be sent to invite experienced Wikimedians to support/endorse this project
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- Participants will get to know about the project via Dallung Wikimedians Community Social media channels; WhatsApp and Facebook.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT
5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Yes, a few of them have laptops and majority will use their smart phones.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- We will continue to engage participants on the Community's WhatsApp group.
7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
- Link to COVID-19 Risk Assessment protocol.
8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- The project will equip the newly recruited editors with skills to be able to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects.
