Gungbe Wikimedians/Core MediaWiki Translation for Gungbe Language
We are a newly recognized user group with 100% translation of the MediaWiki most important messages and 32% of Core MediaWiki messages. To improve the experience of Gungbe editors and encourage inclusion in all Wikimedia projects, We would like to translate more of the Core MediaWiki messages.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will inform them through our facebook group page and WhatsApp group

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Participants are native editors with mobile devices and where a participant requires a laptop because of the technicalities, it will be provided.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Participants works will be reviewed and feedback will be shared on the Group's WhatsApp. Where a participant finds a term too techincal to translate, It will be shared on the WhatsApp Group for discusson.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

User:Yemi festus: I will be leading the event
User:Misteld: He is a native speaker with an extensive knowledge of gungbe. He will assist with communication
User:Samatics: He is an experienced Wikimedian and also a native speaker. He initiated the translation of gungbe on translatewiki and he is a top translator there. He will facilitate the events and assist in reviewing the translations.
User:Gadarawamo: He is a native speaker and also one of the translator of gungbe on translatewiki. He will help in facilitating and coordinating the events. He will assist with logistics

  • Space Rental: $150 x 4 = $600
  • Food and Refreshment: $12 x 20 x 4 = $960
  • Universal Router Rental: $25 x 4 = $100
  • Internet subscription on router:$30 x 4 = $120
  • Laptop rental: $25 x 4 = $100
  • Transportation for facilitators: $15 x 4 x 3 = $180
  • Branded Souvenirs for all participants: $10 x 20 = $200
  • Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipments(liqid soaps, nose mask, hand sanitizers): $100
  • Contingency: $50
  • Total = $2,410
