Activities edit

  1. What community or communities will be involved in this movement strategy discussion(s)?
The Rwanda community user group members will be the ones participating in the discussions.
  2. How will you make sure everyone is invited?
We shall make invitations (and send them via all channels such as emails, WhatsApp), make phone calls, advertise on local medias and social medias
  3. How will you document community discussion(s) and feedback related to movement strategy? Who will be responsible for documenting these discussions?
Yes , we will document all of them (feedback, ideas, suggestions, etc). We will hire an experienced person to take notes and organize them. All the discussion outcomes will be put into a well detailed document, shared and stored in a Google Drive folder and on top of that we shall create a meta page for the discussion results.
  4. What is your facilitation plan to support productive discussions around movement strategy? Please also provide a link to a Friendly Space Policy that will be implemented to support these discussions.
We shall invite everyone with no any type of discrimination and we will make sure everyone's voice is heard and be comfortable to participate in the discussions.Generally we will use the WMF Friendly Space Policy to govern our meetup.
  5. If you are requesting funding for online tools or services to support participation, please describe these services and how they will be used.
Yes, we shall use either Zoom or Google Meet as a communication tool to run the online sessions. Social media campaigns also will be run to reach to a mass of people and digital promotion materials will also be produced to make sure our members and more people are reached out.
  6. If you are translating movement strategy materials, in what languages will you be supporting translation? Who will be responsible for doing the translations?
Yes, we will translate the movement strategy materials into Kinyarwanda, our local language, and we shall hire a professional translator to do that as fast as possible. This is to note that in order to avoid the time wastage, using an already experienced Rwandan Wikimedian who understands how Wikimedia works, is part of the options that we are considering (Internal recruitment).
  7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined in the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
We will run hybrid sessions (online & offline) and for the offline we shall go with the 10 participants maximum.
    • Once you have completed the risk assessment protocol, please contact strategy2030 wikimedia.org to confirm and finalize additional budget and logistical needs.
  8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
As it is our first time to organize such discussion in Rwanda, we are very excited and committed to make this happen in our community. Also we shall start with the offline then end with the online session.
