B.Korlah/Art+Feminism 2022:Follow-up Editathon for Edo State NYSC Corp members
A proposal to build on the success recorded during the Promotion of Wikimedia Projects to Edo state NYSC Corp members, this proposal is aimed at organizing a practical session for these Corp members to put what they've learned into practice while also recruiting new editors from the Edo State National Youth Service Corp scheme to participate and create content under the Art + Feminism 2022 campaign. According to recent research, it was discovered that less than 10% of Wikipedia editors are female, only 17% of published articles on Wikipedia are about Women, 46% of articles nominated for deletion on Wikipedia are about women, during the Promotional event of Wikimedia Project to Edo State NYSC Corp members, about 85% of participants were women who even made contributions to Wikipedia during the promotional program, this follow-up project aims to engage them while also recruiting new editors who would improve and create articles about Nigerian Women on Wikipedia while attempting to cover the gap and also joining the Art + Feminism editathon 2022.

We are planning a two-days physical training and editathon specially focused on creating and/or improving articles about notable women in Nigeria.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

  1. We have a database of all participants from the Promotional event, we will definitely communicate the proposal to them as well.

  3. I will share notifications with members of the Wikimedia Community in Nigeria via the official Facebook page Wikimedia User Group Nigeria official Facebook fan page
  4. With the support of Wikimedians from Wikimedia User Group Nigeria official Facebook fan page, Yoruba Wikipedia official Facebook fan page, Yoruba Wikipedia Community portal.
  5. It will also be shared with the National Youth Service Corps, Edo state chapter, Whatsapp general group.
  6. Promotion of electronic flyers would be used to intimate existing editors and engage intending editors about the project

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

  1. An average Youth Corper is on social media, in fact, almost 90% of Edo State NYSC Corp members are on Whatsapp, so participants would be intimated about the edit-a-thon on Whatsapp.
  2. There also exists a database of participants from the Promotion event, notification about the edit-a-thon would be sent to them.
  3. Graphics and text would also be sent out to intimate participants about the edit-a-thon.
  4. Physical invite would also be employed during the compulsory one-week 'Community Development Service(CDS)', all corp member must be available for the CDS activity, so we would also engage them and tell them about the edit-a-thon during this activity.
