1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

We will organise a series of 4 editathons. With the technical support of Wikipedia contributors, Agripo (Agriculteurs Professionnels du Cameroun) a non-for-profit organisation, headquartered in Tayap (Nyong-et-Kéllé), will organise a serie of 4 editathons, from 1 December 2021 to 30th March 2022, encyclopedic writing and digital publishing collaborative editing under the theme of #Wikivillages of the Littoral's Cameroon. Due to Coranirus period, each edit-ethons will have 8 contributors allowing social distancing (2 meters/6 feet) with no close personal contact or sharing food and computers. The teaching methods will integrate online facilities and tutorials.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

This project constitutes a continuation and expansion of a successful program already in place (Wikivillages), on which the basic processes, networks, and groundwork are based to advance development and knowledge issues by involving specific contributors in a focused initiative. We will also use the website (AGRIPO)and social media of AGRIPO (Facebook).

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

AGRIPO began its participation in Wikipedia activities when Cameroon had only 80 villages in Wikipedia. 5 years after, our Wikipedia activities help us to create more than 6400 articles on rural areas. Now we have 6 512 articles on villages in Cameroon: (Villages)We will continue this projects by call of contributors in our network and hopefully we will put all villages of cameroun in wikipedia

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT

User:Elns and User:Tayap2016

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

We plan to buy few equipment and books to help to help contributors to participate and produce high quality content

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

  • Set up and rollout of the local editing process
  • Set up monitoring processes to improve contributions
  • Dissemination of results
  • Mobilise volunteers to contribute.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

Total cost of project
3 340 euros (3786.72 USD)
Total amount requested
3786.72 USD

For the needed equipment, the breakdown of the cost is:

  • Computer HP EliteBook 840 GB: 460 USD
  • GPS Gramin eTrex 10: 120 USD
  • Jackery solar generator 1500: 2700 USD
  • NETGEAR EX2700 Extension WiFi AC1200 : 81,99 USD
  • Camera Canon EOS Rebel : 450 USD
  • 2 books: 40 USD

The needed budget for equipment is higher: 3852 USD. So we will buy the most urgent

Plan on how the equipment will be used and shared after the grant period.

  • As we plan to organise more than 5 others wikimedia projects to cover all regions of the country, the equipement will be used for the next wikipedia related activities. We could rent the equipement, but it is cheaper to buy this equipment than to rent it during 5 successive activities

The need for having this equipment in the application form.

  • Our headquarters is in rural area. To manage the project, we also need to go to town for related activities and follow-up. With all this equipment, we can reduce our movement and made follow -up in rural area. So only group activities could be done in town. We could also improve quatity of project result like picture

The staff role is to mobilize contributors inside the region, to train them, to work with contributors on finding information on new books, to help them to synthesize information into wikipedia articles, to organize photo events with contributors to illustrate the article, etc.
