Project Plan edit

Activities edit

  1. What kind of event(s) or activities are you planning to hold for your Wikipedia 20 event? Please let us know if these events include a meetup, edit-a-thons, workshops, photowalks, contests, or any kind of campaign.
We will organise a series of 4 editathons. With the technical support of Wikipedia contributors, Agripo (Agriculteurs Professionnels du Cameroun) a non-for-profit organisation, headquartered in Tayap (Nyong-et-Kéllé), will organise a serie of 4 editathons, from 1 May 2021 to 30th August 2021, encyclopedic writing and digital publishing collaborative editing under the theme of #Wikivillages of the East's Cameroon. Due to Coranirus period, each edit-ethons will have 8 contributors allowing social distancing (2 meters/6 feet) with no close personal contact or sharing food and computers. The teaching methods will integrate online facilities and tutorials.
  2. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)
The project will be organised by a national team who centralise the content, mobilise writers and communicate on common sharing information. The project will be based at AGRIPO in Cameroon, a professional organisation active in rural development activities in Cameroon, but well-known at international level. The organising team will be responsible for mobilisation actions surrounding the project. The organising team - supported by an active and productive Wikipedia contributor - will encourage contributors to write and improve articles on the villages of East's Cameroon during the project period. They will lead the volunteer selection.
  3. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)
This project constitutes a continuation and expansion of a successful program already in place (Wikivillages), on which the basic processes, networks, and groundwork are based to advance development and knowledge issues by involving specific contributors in a focused initiative. The available equipment is dedicated to support our Wikimedia projects. This dedicated equipment will be used over the lifespan of the computer for wikipedia project as we plan to cover all Cameroonian villages.
  4. How will you promote and let participants know about your Wikipedia 20 event? Please describe or link to the spaces you will be using to inform your community about your activities. Please note there are resources available to support your communications for Wikipedia 20 events.
AGRIPO began its participation in Wikipedia activities when Cameroon had only 80 villages in Wikipedia. 5 years after, our Wikipedia events help us to create 6000 articles on rural areas. During this 20th birthday, we would like to celebrate the 7000th village in Wikipedia by a beautiful art design of this achievement.
  5. How will you keep participants engaged after the event is over? How will you be sharing photos, videos, or other content from your activities after they are completed?
    • Set up and rollout of the local editing process
    • Set up monitoring processes to improve contributions
    • Dissemination of results
    • Mobilise volunteers to contribute.
  6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
In order to reduce COVID-19 risk, restricted measures are planned:

    - The event will never violates the cameroonian government restrictions and health guidance related to COVID-19.
