1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Azare is the second largest town in Bauchi state after Bauchi town the Capital of Bauchi State. The town is the home of Federal Government College Azare, and the Aminu Sale College of Education Azare. This program will create Awareness in Azare town especially the higher institutions existing in the city.

Many peoples especially students and teachers don't believe in Wikipedia because they think anyone can edit and add anything they want because wikipedia is an open space to everyone, this is reason why they do not accept wikipedia as a sources for references. And another thing is that, some peoplea knows about Wikipedia and sometimes they making their research in Wikipedia but they always think Wikipedia is like Blogs. And some only knows about Wikipedia but they don't heard anything about it's sister projects like Wikidata, Wiktionary, and other Wikimedia Projects.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
  • Creating awareness about Wikimedia Foundation projects in Azare town
  • Wikipedia Training and Edit-a-thons
  • Recruiting new editors

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

We will spend three days running the Program. In the first day I and other participants will be touring Azare town especially important places including schools distributing Flyers containing Wikimedia Foundation informations. And we will keep people informed about the Wikimedia Foundation. But we will focus on Hausa Wikipedia. We will also focus on photography of Monuments, Buildings, Cultures and Foods to promote Commons. On the last two days we will also host an event which will be awareness about Wikimedia Foundation Projects and Workshop and Edit-a-thon focused on Hausa Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.

  • Yusuf Sa'adu, I'm project's lead. I have participated in many Wikimedia events in Kaduna and Kano, I also organised Wikipedia Workshop in Funtua which I have recruited some editors in Funtua.
  • Hamza DK, is an active Wikipedia and Wiktionary editor, he has organised a Wikipedia event and has facilitated and Participated in so many Wikimedia projects.
  • M Bash Ne, he's an experienced Wikimedia editor and has experience in organizing events. He has organised and been a facilitator in so many Wikimedia events.
  • Gwanki, Is an experience Wikimedian, he has organized many Wikimedia Projects in Northern Nigeria. He's an administrator at Hausa Wikipedia
  • And Two of the people in Azare Yahaya Danno Azare and Adamu Jumba these people they will help to organize a trips in the Azare

Participants are the people of Azare, especially young people. Our plan includes a trip that we will reach out to the Azare residents. Focused participants of the workshop are youths students

The Wikimedia friendly space policy will be strictly adhered to the participants before the event starts. We will make sure we have a good space with the materials to assist participants.
