Participation of Women in Telugu Wikimedia projects is less compared with men, I observe that most of the training sessions happen in open spaces where in men participate in good numbers resulting in higher men Wikimedians in Telugu Wikimedia.


I would like to take up this Wikimedia Workshop in a women's college which will result in improved women participation in Telugu Wikimedia projects.

Wikimedia workshop for Telugu Women is a two day comprehensive workshop that aims to equip our female scholars with the skills and knowledge required to become proficient contributors to the world's largest open-access digital repository, Wikipedia, Wiki quote and Wikimedia Commons. This engaging and interactive training event will be held in February of 2023, we will encourage and support interested Women students to participate and unleash their potential as digital content creators and knowledge disseminators.

Divya- co-facilitator Prashanthi- co-facilitator Mamata-co-facilitator Some of our team has training experience in offline and online training, we will request experienced organiser from Telugu Community to takepart in the training.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

Students and Faculty of AMS college of Teacher Education are the main target participants. The program will be open to women students and Youth of Hyderabad region. These women are from the Telugu Speaking community.


We will be sharing an application form and helping them understand about the workshop through posters and messages through college mailing lists or social media. During the workshop we will train them on various ways to contribute to Wikimedia projects especially Wikipedia, Wikiquote and Wikimedia Commons.


We will follow up the participants through collecting feedback and understanding their interest to contribute to open knowledge and organize continuous events to build a Wiki volunteer base.

You also need to align the activities with other projects happening in the planned area of implementation to ensure collaboration within the community.

The Telugu Community has achieved fourth place on Lingua libre platform by number of recordings language wise. I am feeling good to share that I have recorded the millionth word on lingua libre, which is a Telugu word. The telugu community has congratulated me on my enormous contribution to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.


I have shared this idea of organizing a workshop for Women students at AMS college, Osmania University with the community members on Telugu Wikipedia Village pump. And explained the importance of this workshop by which the participation of Women in Telugu Wikimedia projects can be improved.


I have also discussed this with Youth of Telugu Wikimedia, which is an informal group. I have received support in terms of writing grant proposals through this informal group which is aimed at fostering, supporting and sustaining young wikimedians on Telugu Wikimedia projects.
