Federal University Dutse is one of the prestigious tertiary institutions in Nigeria which is situated in the capital city of Jigawa state. With thousands of students from across the country's six regions studying in the various university's faculties and hundreds of lecturers and non-academic staff it would be a good place for advocating and promoting Wikimedia movement projects. Unfortunately, despite the advantageous advancements in the community, there is an absolute dearth of editors, not to even talk of projects that seek to promote Wikipedia in the community and this is definitely associated with the reason of not having a campaign planned to touch such a mixed of thousands individuals. As a student of the university who is lucky to have discovered Wikipedia, I feel obliged to host the first Wikimedia Awareness campaign/training in Federal University Dutse (FUD) for the overall ascendancy of new editors as well as recruiting new sets of active volunteers of the Wikipedia projects. The creation of Wikipedia and its sister's project awareness In FUD is targeted towards laying a solid foundation for the widespread adoption and use of Wikimedia projects among the populace of the university. This would help in the swiping out the current history that there has never been any training or anything sort of that to train people and notify them about Wikimedia projects and how they can contribute to it them not just in the University but in the whole of Jigawa State. If approved, the project will help to establish the first ever Wiki community meetup in Jigawa State, specifically meant to keep in touch with present and future activities of Wikipedia in the community and also lead to the establishment of the Wiki Fan Club in the Federal University Dutse.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

Awareness Campaign - I and my team will embark on awareness trip by touring the premises of the university, academic offices, faculties, lecture halls and bukaterias/cafeterias explaining the activities of Wikipedia and its Sister projects. We will share fliers and handbills containing information about Wikipedia and it's sister projects. During the process, we are going to register at least 50 new editors who are willing to participate in Wikimedia projects and also connect with at least fifteen existing Wikimedia projects' editors.

Physical training: This will be a one on one interaction with the fifty participants recruited. In the session, practical sessions will be hold on how to improve Wikipedia and it's sisters' projects.

Follow-up/Certification: This will be another training session that is also aimed at fine-tuning the editing skills of the new and the existing editors. After the training, there will be a three weeks Edit-a-thon where winners and the participants will be awarded a certificate of participation each. Also, Federal University Dutse Wiki Fan Club will be created and sustained.

Photo walk: Jigawa state is one of the most underrepresented areas on Commons in terms of visual content despite being rich with various historical tourist attractions, monuments, traditional buildings, cultures, mountains, dams, beautiful landscapes etc. These areas will be our main focus for the entries on Wikimedia commons.
