6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The change we aim to bring involves deepening community involvement, building capacity, improving editor relations and skills, and fostering community development within the Wikimedians of Tabora community. Building upon the successes of our previous grant, (https://diff.wikimedia.org/2024/05/20/evaluation-report-community-engagement-and-participant-retention-in-wikimedians-of-tabora/), our primary goal is to further empower our community members. We seek to equip retained members with enhanced skills and encourage their continued involvement in the Wikimedia ecosystem.

While women’s involvement in Wikimedia projects typically lags behind that of men, our previous project achieved nearly equal retention and recruitment of women and men editors. We aim to maintain and enhance this remarkable level of female involvement within the Wikimedia movement.

To achieve these goals, we will implement strategies such as training workshops, editathons, community gatherings, and collaborations with other communities. These initiatives will build on our past successes and continue to develop a vibrant and active Wikimedians of Tabora community.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

We are committed to furthering community engagement, building the capacity of community members, and enhancing the skills of retained editors. To achieve this, we will host training workshops and edit-a-thons to actively involve our community. Additionally, we are planning to organize a photowalk to enable community members to engage with Wikimedia Commons.

User: Diana Dickson, She will be responsible for communication and logistics in this project. We will also seek experienced Wikimedians for training assistance in other established communities in Tanzania as a way of collaborating.
