Outcomes and impact
editOutcomes
edit- Provide the original project goal here.
- Have at least 50 attendees
- Fund the attendance of 35 participants from across the Arab world (excluding Tunisia) through scholarships, with a priority given to the established/planned Usergroups and active Wikipedians
- Encourage the participation (through part-funding) of 15 Tunisian-based Wikipedians, mission aligned individuals and organisations, researchers, academics, etc.
- Make campaigns that aim to encourage people to participate in existing and new projects such as “Wiki Loves monuments” and “Wiki Loves Earth”.
- Share management skills and experience and how-to list for encouraging and activating community engagement and sustaining contribution in the Arab world.
- Shed some lights on next year's conference.
- Maintain detailed accounts of keynotes, workshops, and panels for remote online viewing, documentation, evaluation and report.
- Did you achieve your project goal? How do you know your goal was achieved? Please answer in 1 - 2 short paragraphs.
- We reached the 50 attendees. We funded 27 participants from across the Arab world through scholarships and 15 Tunisian participants.
- We encouraged particpants to make campaigns to projects such as “Wiki Loves monuments” and “Wiki Loves Earth”. We could notice the precence of 5 Arabe countries among 23 countries in the current competion of WLE.
- The share of skills was made in face to face mode and we believe to be concretized on Wikimedia projects afterward. The conference may take place the next year in Dubai, UAE.

- Learning question
- Did your work increase the motivation of contributors, and how do you know?
- We think that WikiArabia increased considerably the motivation of contributors. We could detect that from their comments in the post-conference survey. Here are some answers to the question "What was the biggest learning experience and greatest benefit of attending the conference?":
- I found the greatest benefit was to get a push to get more people around me involved in Wikipedia
- I see different iniative and open programs and resources that I knew for the first time and I'll use for a large extent. Also, the greatest benefit i gained is related to find some active online ambassador to help me in my project of WEP in Cairo University.
- بث روح الإيجابية لبذل المزيد في ويكيبيديا. الإستفادة من خبرات ويكيبيديين خبراء (broadcast a positive spirit to do more in wikipedia and benifit from the experience of the wikipedian experts)
- motivate people to activate wikipedia in the arabic world
Survey
editAn Evaluation Survey was sent out to participants at the end of the conference so we could measure their satisfaction and either the conference met their expectations or not. According to the Analysis of this Evaluation Survey we could safely say that most of the particpants are very satisfied with WikiArabia at all levels.
