Audience

edit

Who are the people you want to introduce Wikipedia to?

edit

Primarily, the people from underrepresented groups such as but not limited to rural demographics.

In what languages do they search for information, online or otherwise?

edit

Hindi

In what ways does this group communicate with each other?

edit

Mainly, in-person and by other means such as but not limited to telecommunication.

What are some reasons this group would use Wikipedia? How would they benefit from it, or what would they find useful?

edit

They could use Wikipedia to read about their search query on an extensive level. Bi-literal people could help with translating articles and content. People belonging to but not limited to the rural demographics can learn how to use the web and Internet to search appropriately and efficiently. People could find their contributions heart-warming.

Project idea

edit

What language Wikipedia projects will you promote to new readers?

edit

Hindi

How will you communicate with new readers? Will you be communicating with them online, in-person, or both?

edit

In-person; could be extended online as well.

Describe your idea to engage new readers. How might it be implemented? What will you tell people about Wikipedia?

edit

Think about the steps that might involved to make this idea happen, and what you might teach people about your experience or others' experiences using Wikipedia.
I'll tell that Wikipedia is a resource to everything on planet earth. And, what you do not see there, you can write it yourself and watch it being read by millions of people worldwide. You get a feeling of contribution towards a good cause and facilitation to your society.

How will you know if this project is successful? What are some outcomes that you can share after the project is completed?

edit

If you’re not certain about how to respond to this question when starting your idea, you do not need to answer it right now. Campaign participants and Wikimedia Foundation staff can help you consider some options.
Outcomes could be the number of new users taken on-board, number of articles translated, etc., targeted to a particular demographic.

Do you think you can implement this idea? What support do you need?

edit

Do you need people with specific skills or resources to complete this idea? Are there any financial needs for this project? Do you need advising from Wikimedia Foundation staff?
I could need support as in logistics and planning as well as little to negligible funding from Wikipedia.

About the idea creator

edit

I belong to a rural family living in a metropolitan city. I've seen things like this very often and have found people less open towards new things like Wikipedia.
